Julian Torhenu, a 22-year-old auto mechanic, was on Saturday ran over and killed by an articulated truck on which he was fixing a fault.
The truck was said to have gone into motion suddenly, and ran over Torhenu, who worked on the same vehicle as an aid.
A close police source at Aflao told the GNA that the deceased and two others, including the driver in charge, arrived at the frontier on board the Beninese registered truck , with a consignment of salt from Ghana en-route to Benin.
The source said just as the truck was about to enter into the Togolese territory to continue the journey, it developed a fault and halted.
According to the source, Torhenu then went under the truck to repair it, but the truck suddenly went into reverse and in the process, the front tyre moved over him killing him instantly.
Pedestrians and frontier agents who witnessed the scene wailed uncontrollably for help, but to no avail.
Pascal Tchigbor, driver in charge of the truck is assisting the police with investigations.
