Head of Human Security at the National Security Secretariat, Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah (Rtd), has described as a total waste of time the National Sanitation Day instituted by government.
According to him, since its inception, sanitation has rather moved from bad to worst.
National Sanitation Day, an initiative of the Local Government Ministry observed every first Saturday of the month is part of efforts to encourage Ghanaians to clean their environs describing it as a waste of time.
It has since received criticisms from some local government experts and political parties who have questioned its sustainability.
Gen. Nunoo Mensah at the 70th Anniversary by the St. Paul`s Catholic Church said it`s a waste of time for the whole nation to embark on a sanitation day instead of providing bins in our various society and communities, churches and schools particularly .
“Why don’t we provide dustbins and advice people to drop their litter and then we go and clean up wasting valuable time to do that, it doesn’t make sense” he said.
