Tragedy struck Adumasa, a farming community in the Atwima-Mponua District, when a 60-year old farmer, Halidu Bamsu, was trapped and burnt to death by a raging fire.
The deceased had set the fire to a parcel of farm land he was preparing for cultivation, but the fire got out of control and trapped him.
Police Inspector Daniel Otabil, the officer in charge of Adiembra Police Station, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency, and said it happened at about 1330 hours on Monday.
He said after the people in the community realized that he had not returned from the farm, a search party was organized and the charred body was found on the farm.
The body had since been deposited at the Toase Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
Police Inspector Otabil said the incident was being investigated.
