A special task force, Beach Guards, has began a massive clean up exercise of beaches in Accra.
The task force was set up by the Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) to also ward off sand winners, block manufactures as well as those who dump refuse and defaecate at the beaches at the beaches.
The Chairman of the task force, Mr Djanie Magoah, told The Mirror prior to the clean up exercise they undertook an educational campaign with vans on environmental sanitation along the beaches.
He said after the clean up, offenders would be put before sanitation courts.
To keep the beaches clean, the AMA has drawn plans to construct public toilets and place refuse bins at strategic points along the beaches.
