The Manhyia palace in the Ashanti region has directed that persons with Asante extraction in other regions should observe the mandatory ban on noisemaking, drumming and funerals following the demise of the Asantehene Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.
It has therefore directed the respective Chiefs in other regions who serve under the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to also ensure that indigenes observe the tradition ahead of the funeral of the Asantehemaa.
Political rallies, parties, brass band, public speakers, concerts, church services and other forms of noisemaking have all banned.
Addressing Journalists at Manhyia in Kumasi, Akyeamehene Nana Nsuasi Poku Agyeman III said families are however allowed to bury their deceased devoid of noisemaking.
‘Traditionally, we are not supposed to announce the ban on her death, but things have changed, hence the need to make it public. Nobody should organise funerals, noisemaking, drumming, you can go on walk, but political rallies amidst brass band is also banned until she is buried. We know that we are in political season but our tradition is also very important, but we are mourning our queen mother which will come on very soon. The ban cuts across all the regions with Asante extraction such as Brong Ahafo, Berekum, Nkoranza, Sekwa, Japekrom, Amanti, Worawora, Eastern region’ he stated.
He indicated that offenders of the ban will be dealt with.
The thirteenth Queen mother died on November 14, 2016.

I stand with you!
I think it's time you relocate to the moon! Since you don't want to live by your customs and traditions...They should have left you uncircumcised when you were born...#***barred word***
Please give us a briefing space. Even yesterday 19th November 2016, ALHAJI MUNTAKA MUBARAK the Asawase MP was at SEPE DOTE in the Asawase constituency vigorously campaingning for vote amid drumming and dancing with loud speakrs, and nothing happened to him.If Even Asawase being the heart of the Ashanti capital people have openly flouted the directive what would you expect from the other regions. Tweeaa!!!
you ban progress and you blame goverments after and your people have to migrate to unbanned countries to seek progress. Common sense.
Even the United Kingdom still revere their traditions and customs so if you don't have one to be proud of just ***barred word***. Worawora is under the Golden stool and no fu*king idi*t can decide for them. Whether you like it or not they are Ashantis that's why they never changed their mother tongue to speak another language. Ashanti extraction are all over Ghana even Greater Accra, there are the Osu Ashanti who still maintain their Akan names and some in the Adangbe, but Otumfuo is talking about those still under the Golden stool whose chiefs go to the Manhyia palace. If you don't know I'm Worawora is part of the Asanteman council.Agona in the Central region are Ashanti extraction, Elmina included. Some are independent but still Ashanti extraction and those still under the Golden stool telling you Worawora is part of the Asanteman council. What belongs to the Golden stool can never be taking away
Do we Ghanians have our freedom? On our national emblem, we have 'Freedom and Justice'. Where is our freedom, that somebody would just get up and say no drumming, no noise. What democracy are we pratising? I sometimes weep for mother Ghana. We have been slaves in our own country. Ghana is NOT under traditional rulers, it's democratic country, and everybody has a right of movement so long as is under the 1992 constitution.PERIOD.'Y3bre ahenfo s3m'
I can see you have forgotten your history lessons. Ghana was a kingdom before it became a Democratic nation. There were kings before president's...when kings were fighting wars and forging the nation where were president's...?? Behind the curtains...Kings in this Case Otumfuo rules..the nation.
Asantis should give us a break. Ghana is not a kingdom but democratic state with an executive president who's powers supersedes any chief.
No one is forcing anyone those who don't side with the king should just go ahead and do what pleases them hmmm anka mo be nhu!!
wow!! Otumfuo is indeed powerful and ruler of Asantes now Kumasi is like a cemetery not even the ndc walk for JM did come on this tells how Asantes respect their overlord and customs
