Controversial radio host, Salifu Maase, popularly known as Mugabe, has started a turf war with the British High Commissioner to Ghana on Twitter over the former’s decision to visit his family in the UK.
The twitter war was triggered by a tweet from the radio show host stating he would soon leave Ghana to visit his family in the UK to which the High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin replied to thank him for apparently ‘forewarning’ them.
Maase, whose party, the National Democratic Congress, lost the just ended elections in Ghana appeared not enthused by the High Commissioner’s response, which he interpreted to mean a possible ban of him entering the UK.
He tweeted: “I will visit my wife said kids in the UK soon” to which Mr Benjamin responded: ” Well, thanks for letting us know. There is a saying in English: “forewarned is forearmed”.
But Maase, who was jailed four months by the Supreme Court for making threatening statement against the judges, cast doubt over a possible ban of him visiting his family by the High Commission.
“If Kennedy Agyapong can travel to where ever he want in this world I don’t think you pple will be a barrier to me visiting my family in UK,” he tweeted, but ostensibly not happy with the use of the phrase “you people,” Mr Benjamin replied: ” Oh! “You people”? I see. Well, well, well.”
A follower who was following the banter between the two and was shocked by the posture of Maase tweeted “…he probably doesn’t know who you [Jon Benjamin] are” but that appeared to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. Mugabe then fired back at the follower and asked whether Mr Benjamin is he God, stating that the only person he fears in this world is God and not a fellow human being. “Is he God? The only person I fear in this world is God (Allah) not a fellow human being,” he tweeted.
Mugabe again tweeted the “UK is not Heaven,” when another follower pointed out to him that Mr Benjamin is the British High Commissioner to Ghana.

I share the same sentiment with Mogabe. What's the business of a diplomat in individual post. Is he here on his capacity as individual or representing his country and for that matter limit himself to diplomatic issues. Telling him forwarned means what? This business of l will deny you visa as if that ends ones life is childish for a high commissioner to be threatening people with. Say it as it's. UK is not heaven. Respect is earned so don't Lord your visa over anybody.
Stop being so effing gullible. Of course Salifu maase uses social media. Ndc guys are thiffs and lyars to the very core. Nobody has hacked anything to cause mischief. The same trouble he got himself into st Monroe FM is the same trouble he's getting himself into now. Opening his bucks cavity waawaaawaaa caused him prison. In the international community it can cause him to be barred from the U.K.! Did I hear someone question if the U.K. is heaven? Well it's not, but his family is thete. They're not here in Ghana. Why ? Why has Salifu taken them to a perceived better place and you're sitting in Ghana defending him? Does he even know you? You better get something better to do with your time.
Wow I like this dude, sometimes you ve got to tell it like it is and let the chips fall where they may. ***barred word*** like the high commissioner.
modern australia was built by british ex convics, true or false? only ignoorant ***barred word*** would see donaiůd trumps america and brecit as heavens above
Seriously. most Ghanaians just open their mouth and talk without knowing what they are talking about. An ex convict is not allowed to enter the country unless the persons release is after 3yrs. is not even a year and u want to travel.
Please I an not a fan of this Mugabe guy at but lets call a spade a spade: is the uk heaven?is your british high commisioner in Ghana or any where in the world GOD? I really dont like the big mouth of british and american ambassadors inolving themselves in local Ghanaian politics. These so called ambasadros can go to helll.Should our Presidents ask Ghanaian Ambassadros in your countries to behave in the same arrogaaaNT way like you do in GhANA?
Ndc lost due to voter apathy on their part. President lost 800,000 votes which did not reflect in nana votes. It happened in 2000 when ndc lost over 1.2 m votes in that year. Ndc is a party you can't not easily predict. They will come back in 2020 with a lot of surprises unless npp put it's house in order by fulfilling the job promise they made to the youth . No time for excuses in 2016 as happened in 2000.
Mugabe has always said he does not communicate on social media. I remember him saying the only thing he has is WhatsApp which he shares with only his wife on air. I think somebody is out there to do mischief in his name. I think this kind of things do not do us good. U can't just clown somebody name and misuse it the way u want. Mugabe has always maintained that he does not get into social media , not once not twice but several times on air.
The release of the montie three led to the defeat of the ndc if they dont know i am telling them on authority. if u have people like koku anyidoho who played the most active part in the defeat of the ndc fighting for their release based on sycophancy then ndc shouldnt blame anyone. all these things ghanaians were not amazed that a whole president who should have thought right will release them. now see the end result? president mahama was soo weak wen he gave in to pressure
AJ, i agree with you on the high commissioner's posture but really, this time around, nothing he tweeted was offensive. I see a clear tweet of humour but Mugabe didnt take the bait. And this happens, when one is always looking for faults instead of appreciating humour and learning to ignore. Sometimes, we NEED to ignore certain things ....
