On Friday, January 20, 2017, Gambia's ex-president, Yahya Jammeh accepted the December election by announcing that he was finally stepping down for his successor President Adama Barrow after weeks of Political crisis.
After stepping down from power, the former leader was flown into political exile to Equatorial Guinea. He traveled with mediator Alpha Conde, the president of Guinea.

HE WAS JUST AFRAID OF MILITARY INTERVENTION THAT AWAITED HIM. THAT IS ALL. HE WOULDN'T HAVE QUITED IF HE WAS NOT THREATENED WITH MILITARY ACTION
and plss the whites stressed that ecowas should use political to get him and not military. you can find out for yourself.
pls you should thank God they intervened. do you think your president would have stepped down after court proceedings. he would have ruled you over and over again. do you know the chaos that could have happened and the lives that would have been lost. you can salute him. but everyone is happy he left. how could one man hold to ransom a whole nation with women and children running helter skelter.i guess you are part of those who would have wanted him to rule forever and cause more harm than good.
A TRUE PATRIOT. ALTHOUGH I AM NOT AN ADMIRER OF YAHYA JAMMEH,I SALUTE HIM FOR HIS LAST MINUTE DECISION TO LEAVE THE GAMBIA TO AVERT THE UNSCRUPULOUS AND UNWARRANTED DECISION OF THE ECOWAS BLOCKHEADS WHO HAS NOTHING TO OFFER ITS PEOPLE THAN TO FOLLOW THE ACTIONS OF THE WEST.DID THEY THINK OF THE HUMAN COST OF GOING TO FORCE JAMMEH OUT? AND WHAT WOULD THEY HAVE DONE TO ALLEVIATE THE SUFFERINGS OF ITS PEOPLE? IDOOOOTS ECOWAS HEADS OF STATE WILL NEVER LEARN. ONLY TIME WILL TELL.
