A former president of the Ghana Bar Association, Mr Sam Okudzeto, has urged activists of the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) to desist from raiding and vandalising state assets.
“Your party has won power, but you are not the one governing, it is the people we elected into office who are the ones supposed to be governing. If all of us are supposed to take the laws into our hands, we will have chaos,” Mr Okudzeto told the Ghana News Agency in Accra on the sidelines of a roundtable organised by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA).
“We are not in the jungle, we are in a civilised society where there are rules, there are laws, so, we should allow the rules and laws to operate. Those kids need to be educated to make them understand.
“If you vandalise SADA office, it is a national asset you are destroying. If you lock up SADA office, will that put food on your table?"
Mr Okudzeto’s comments follow several raids of some state institutions by members of the NPP as well as the storming of the private homes of some former government officials in search of missing state assets such as vehicles. So far the homes of the opposition NDC’s National Organiser Kofi Adams and Mr James Agyenim-Boateng, aide to former Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, have been searched by security officials who are after missing cars.
Meanwhile, the presidency has set up a special taskforce to spearhead the retrieval of state assets from former public officials.

HW3, WHAT ARE SAYING? WE WILL RAID AND SEIZE ALL STOLEN VEHICLES BY MAHAMA AND HIS BOYS
The so called civilized citizens and lawless hypocrites should know that we lived in a civilized country with laws surrounding us so they should behave well.Is it part of creating jobs for the masses. (Invisible Force)We have got the security services of the land so can't we use them?
Okujeto Ablakwa is next on the line. Just advise them to return the stolen items, that is all.
you people do you know Mr. Sam Okudzeto well! He is renowned Lawyer and an NPP big-wig. He is advocating for a civilise society just as President Akufo Addo has promised. The way the Govt is going about the whole issue is not too good. If they have evidence of cars that are unaccounted for they should just question the institutions that purchased them to account for them. Most of these cars are purchased by the Presidency and for that matter by the Chief of Staff, so Julius Debrah should be questioned about these cars.
Yes, I agree. You are wise.
Your house is next oluman so prepare to hand over what u think is not for you...
