Felix Mante, a communication team member of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has urged Ghanaians to fight against illegal mining.
He has advised that appropriate authorities must regulate and supervise small scale mining very well.
Felix Mante contributed greatly on the issue of the importance of rivers to our society during Atv's Asem Yi Di Ka show.
He explained that rivers in Ghana can serve as means of transport and source of good drinking water. According to him, rivers are very important to the society, so all Ghanaians should help fight galamsey.
"There are no effective bylaws to protect our rivers in Ghana. Chiefs, government and traditional leaders are the people encouraging illegal mining in Ghana",he said.
He urged the Nana Akufo Addo led government to focus on protecting our dying rivers.

Galamsey has converted oranges from Obuasi into death fruits. Now research has shown they contain heavy metals which is not safe for our consumption. hmmm, Ghana, what are we doing to ourselves?
I think the district assemblies will be best at developing bylaws to help protect our water bodies
hmm, I am afraid our leaders will take the bull by the horn and deal with this alarming problem
If we allow galamsey to thrive instead of our water bodies, nature will never forgive us on this land. Felix you are on point and I pray to see the current government do something serious about how to end the menace.
