Mr Emmanuel Kusi, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Manager of the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) Limited, on Thursday called for the supply of more buses to sustain and to remain competitive.
He said the company was likely to suspend operations in the next two years if new buses were not brought on board.
Mr Kumi told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Sunyani that out of the 61 fleet of buses in the region only 45 of them were on the road adding that the others were grounded beyond repairs.
He said passenger safety was the hallmark of the company, and asked passengers to report reckless drivers and recalcitrant conductors to the company.
Mr Kumi also appealed to staff of the company to work hard and contribute to the decision making process so as to uplift the image of the company.

The Metro Mass Transport should have a board and operations run by the board. It should buy their own buses and run the fleet of buses by replacing and expanding the operations with profits accrued from the operations. Buses should not have on-board conductors but ticket inspectors at vantage points along the bus routes. There should be no form of money transaction on the buses. This means passengers will have to either buy tickets in advance or buy day or short journey tickets on board with exact fare which is dropped in locked money collector with no access by the driver. The transport operation should collaborate with Police to call for prompt arrests where recalcitrant and abusive passengers tend to cause chaos or board buses without paying or with fake tickets. This is how public transport runs here in the UK and I must admit that it is very efficient.
