The police has revealed that apart from the fractures on the head of Major Maxwell Adam Mahama, there were bullet wounds on his body, giving a clear indication that the suspects fired shots at the deceased before setting his body ablaze.
During the postmortem, a number of bullets were removed from his body, the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Bright Oduro has told Graphic Online’s Mary Mensah.
In one of the evidence videos that circulated on social media, one of the attackers was heard telling another person that, the suspected “armed robber” [Major Mahama] had fortified himself and that even though they had shot at him severally, he was still running.
Police preliminary investigations also revealed that the late Major Mahama, jumped unto a moving vehicle in an attempt to flee from the attackers on two occasions, but they shot through all two vehicles forcing him to jump off.
The key suspect, Yaw Amankwa, alias Bulla, said to have fired at Major Mahama together with 11 key suspects who played various roles in the gruesome murder of Major Mahama at Denkyira-Obuasi in May this year, are however on the run and the police have mounted a search for them.
The key suspect is said to have fired at Major Maxwell Adam Mahama at Denkyira Obuasi on Monday May 29, 2017 before other attackers descended and killed him with cement blocks and clubs.
They were said to have used a double-barrelled gun they were wielding, while others rushed to buy petrol and set the body of the deceased ablaze.
The key suspects include Yaw Amankwa, alias Bulla; Akwesi Asante; Nana Kwadjo, alias Nana Edjo; John Boakye, Unit Committee Member, and a trader whose name was given only as Sarah, married to Kwaku Brefo, a motorbike rider in the town.
The others are Kwaku Diesel, Kaya Rasta and the rest whose names were given only as Daddy, Boadu, Ahinkra, Tikwa and Attipar.

@ KG Please don't display your ignorance on the net Read the penal code. In a case like this everyone on the scene of the lynching if even you were only there saying things like' Oh stop it 'etc and you did not report to the police is culpable.though at a lesser degree of culpability than the ones who actually took part in the murder. As for the snail seller since when did carrying a gun become an offence? If the man was seen carrying a machete or bow and arrows would she have raised the alarm that the Major was an armed robber?Or supposing he was carrying a cement block which can also be a weapon[this was one of the murder weapons],would she have raised the alarm. The whole thing was a set-up.Which military man would go jogging in jeans and military boots after taking his bath? Look folks there is more to this murder than meets the eye.The Assembly man planned all this to kill the young major. So all this time did this man not tell them that he was a military officer? What would they have lost if they had taken him to the police station? These are galamseyers who carefully planned and murdered this beautiful young man and non of them will ever know peace till they die a miserable death
The more I read of how the Major was killed the more I become angry and see the culprits as satanic. For, how can they shoot somebody severally and obviously disarm him, and would not arrest him to take him to the police BUT lynch him. I can;t think far on this matter, except to say these people are BARBARIANS, the only thing left for them is to eat human flesh!
So what role was played in the murder by one who's name was only given as Sarah (wife of K. Brefo, a motorbike rider in the town)? I pray that justice will be served and the real culprits will be dealt with. I have no evidence to confirm this assertion but I think what is going on here is similar to what we have known to be done by the Ghana Police. Did all the over 44 people arrested and remanded cause physical harm to the late major? Do I have to be arrested and remanded just because I have been seen in a video taken in my community, talked to the major before his death (even if I did not physically harm him) or am related to someone who caused harm to him? This attitude of arresting witnesses and relatives of those who commit crimes and punishing them for the non availability of the criminal must stop. I suppose that those who passed on the information (snail sellers) that they have seen a man with a gun have also been arrested and remanded. So since when did passing on information about an irregularity to elected authorities of a town become a crime? I understand that they may have information related to this case but did they conspire to kill him by making a phone call to the authorities? You do all these and you wonder why people do not want to volunteer information for you to do a good job. Should I report that I saw something to the police? What if the person dies some time later? will I not be arrested because I had information? A word to the wise, ...
They will all be arrested and soon. They cannot escape God's wrath!
There seems to be some similarities in the death of General Afrifa and Captain Mahama. Both were Christians and more in sharing the good news about Jesus Christ. Both were tortured before dying. For Afrifa, it was multiple gun shots from his feet upwards. For Captain now Major Mahama, multiple gunshots, clubbing and blocks to the head. Both incidents show the evil in the heart of man, and those involved must repent and ask God for forgiveness.
Listening and reading about Maj Mahama dramatic death is hard to bear as human beigns. Please, lets stop adding more highly inflamable substance on already a burning frame. I wish these killers are put to death by Cutlass Squard between 12noon and 14hrs where the sun is severe and harsh.
Dear Editor, Severally is used in the wrong context to mean several times or numerous times. The word severally means individually or separately; each in turn. Kindly check and make the necessary correction. Thank you.
