Information Minister Mustapha Hamid has apologised to media houses which may have felt slighted or sidelined in favour of others at the President’s encounter with the media on Tuesday.
His apology follows accusations by certain media houses that a few media groups were favoured to the neglect of others.
“Somehow, there is an accusation which I’ve heard which may be justified that many of the people who were called were either from EIB or Multimedia … the justifiable one is what I’m admitting to you, there’s no need to lie, that there were many people from EIB and Multimedia, but they are independent media houses on their own,” Mr Hamid told Class News’ Kwesi Parker-Wilson.
“If you look at it, this is Adom FM, this is Joy FM, this is Joy TV, this is GHOne, this is Agoo TV. I mean if you want to say that the whole of Multimedia, too, you’ll just allow one question, it’ll not be fair but you heard me say that for Joy FM in particular I would allow only one person to ask only the question, so I was conscious enough.
“I called Daily Graphic, I called Daily Guide, I called GTV, so I tried to be as balanced as possible but I’m human, of course and if I’ve made mistakes I admit that I’ve made those mistakes, I’m not perfect at all, so if I’ve made mistakes I apologise sincerely from the bottom of my heart. I’m very sorry, let them forgive me but it can never be deliberate.”
Ahead of the Q&A session, the president had praised the media for their support for him in the past six months and said he would prefer a “noisy, scandalous” media to a “sycophantic” one.

Mustapha Hamid is a nice person but must know that in Ghana Politics you can never please your political opponent so stop this Mr Nice Guy attitude and keep your focus so that you can have something to show at the end of your time in office. What is this apologetic attitude? What are they not saying about Trump's administration? How many Radio Stations do we have in Ghana? How many journalists are out there? Even if you were given a whole day for the question time, no way you could please everyone. You are in Government, leadership position so take decisions as a leader and stand by them. the campaign period is long gone. As a matter of fact you don't respond to these issues. Where from this sorry, sorry that you guys have been saying? Same goes for Ken Dapaa, National Security Head who is supposed to be firm and autocratic always apologising, giving NDC and PRO NDC communicators to be saying these things on air. Clear sign of weak leadership!
You guys should commot and let us think. Sit down and write the names of the various media houses across the 10regions and thig how it would have been if they had all come, thus y they have to merge with each other to get info from those who were there and he has accepted his fault and apologised to it so why are u guys attacking him again. If this was done by an NDC he / she wouldnt have apologised so allow him to do his work or better still u can choose to invite them to ur houses
You guys will never stop surprising me. You never forgot to invite daily guide but forgot the other media houses who you dont like. SHAME onto you and what ever you stand for.
AAAHHHHHHH, YOU ARE A MOROON. ADMITTING THAT IT WAS A DELIBRATE. SHAME UNTO YOU AND I DO NOT BLAME YOU. I HIGHLY RESPECT JOHN MAHAMA AND OTHERS BEFORE. JUST LOOK AT RESPONSES FROM THE AFUKKO ADDO AND BORROWMIA. THIS SHOWS THAT YOU ARE ALL FAILURES. AAAAAAAHHHHHHH
