The Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo on Tuesday schooled a Member of Parliament over the use of titles such as “Honourable” on writs.
According to the Chief Justice, names were to appear first before any designation. “If we want to learn from the people who originated these titles then do not do this…they mention their names before they mention any other titles”.
The Chief Justice noted that it was unnecessary for people to write titles on writs adding that; “you do not fight your battles through titles”.
She gave the advice when two Members of Parliament (MPs) for Ashaiman and Juaboso Constituencies, Ernest Norgbey and Kwabena Mintah Akandoh respectively appeared before the Supreme Court for the hearing of their writ which sought to challenge the appointment of Ms Otiko Afisah Djaba as a Minister.
The two Legislators were seeking a declaration that Ms Djaba was unqualified to occupy the position because she failed to undertake the mandatory National Service.
Mr. Akandoh described himself to the court as “Honourable Akandoh,” based on which Justice Akuffo then schooled him over the usage of titles in legal proceedings.
She further asked Mr. Godwin Tamakloe counsel for the legislators to go and expunge the titles on the writ.
The CJ said there was the need to teach the public about the usage of titles and urged them to be careful with the usage of titles especially in legal matters.
She said people should not focus attention on themselves by using titles.

So even if the MP's were not aware , what about their Lawyer. They come and sit on radio and run their mouth as if they are the only people with brains in their head but they dont know jack.
Shieee, 'bombastic' to the point be this!!! I love it.
mr bombast, your verbiage veers most verbose.
Hahahaaahahaha! When you don't have self esteem you run for titles to save you. Before the P/NDC there was nothing like honorable and that ***barred word***! These people in that party are nobody's and who lack self esteem so took to themselves honorables to look a little respected, but respect is earned not holding titles. Osagyefo's ministers and appointees had Mr. Before their names but performed much more better than these ndc cr00ks, who are in politics just to ste*l to get rich. There was Mr Nkumsah, Mr Kojo Botsio, Mr Krobo Edusei, Mr Jantuah, Mr Welbeck, Mr Kofi Baako, Mr Abavana etc and it was only those commanders of the Young Pioneer who were called comrades but these ndc I don't really know what's wrong with them they love titles and power but lack what goes with that. Ghanaians hate ndc,ndc is not good for Ghana. We want to see the CPP, PPP and PNC merge to form a patriotic party to compete with the NPP. PLEASE, listen to Mr Joseph Agyepong and merge because we don't like ndc, ndc is satanic, anti- Ghana and eemy of Ghana. They have nothing for the country but destruction and power to intimidate and to insult Ghanaians with arrogance and impunity.
A decorated pig is still a pig. No amount of gold chains, rims. and earrings can change things.
Dr Bawumiah vindicated again They do not read
I understand the 2 MPs stood there like fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuls and nodded "yes Madam" "yes Madam" as she blasted them for being dummmmb edddiots. After that the 2 edddiotic fooooooools wept bitterly and smoked cheap weeeed to get over their pain and humiliation. Following that, they slept and woke up only to find that the pain was still at the forefront of their memories. Dummmmb NDC fooooooooooools.
If somebody says his job experience is having been a dinning hall prefect, how can that person be an MP, still he is proud and pompous that he talks from his stomach.
kwa! kwa! kwa! the 2 NDC edddiots who were full of pompous verbosity were cataclysmically and apocalyptically disintegrated and their titular nomenclature ingnominiously rendered asunder by a superior establishment and entity. The discredited bufffffooons and inept legislture of the wrettched umbrella fraternity stood in silent perplexion as they were confined to the chambers of immortal stuuuppppidddity
