The Police administration has announced the arrest of a key suspect in the attack on the District Police Station at Kwabenya leading to the shooting to death of an Inspector, Emmanuel Ashilevi.
The suspect identified as Kofi Seshie, has been named as the man who shot and killed the officer who was on monitoring assignment during the attack on the night of January 21, Director-General of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service, ACP, David Eklu announced on Joy News Saturday evening.
Inspector Ashilevi, was shot in a dawn raid by an armed gang who broke into the station and freed a number of suspects in police custody.
The Inspector General of Police David Asante Apeatu earlier this week announced that five persons who aided the escape of the fugitives, including a 28-year-old woman, have also been arrested.
Little information has been given about Seshie but Myjoyonline.com has learnt he is part of the four men arrested by the police in Kasoa on January 23, for allegedly trading in weapons, and hiring same to criminals.
The other three suspects are: Mawuli Adokokye, 28, Obed Wood, 37 and Jeffrey Tetteh, 38, are currently in the custody of the Kasoa Police, awaiting prosecution.
Watch the late officer's wife, Esther Ashilevi, speak to JoyNews about how she received news of her husband's demise.

This is too little too late. I have always doubted and wondered why the high level of lack of pro-activeness on the part of our Police force; and don't get me wrong, I will be quick to add that when our Officers decide to deliver, yes, they can deliver. I travel across the country a lot whenever I am in Ghana and the posture/attitude and low level of professionalism of MOST of our Officers are nothing to be proud of. My question is what do the so-called senior officers do sitting in their air-conditioned office? Can they do this for me as a special request? Please leave your offices and join the Trotros without your uniforms on and see exactly what some of us the citizens see? Or am I to believe the notion that the junior officers out there come and render "sales" aka "accounts" and share the booty with you the senior officers? Where are to so-called police intelligence and the CID? Do they really exist? I Am only asking as a concerned citizen. Thank you
Its very strange that, whenever a police is killed , the police authorities within a short time , make everything possible to have the bandicts arrested. This means that, either the Policemem know the criminals already or know where they live; This pathetic incidents or accident took place at Kwabenya and the police is now able nd capable to have them arrested all the way at KASOA; If the late police Officer had been an ORDINARY PERSON the attackers could never ever have been arrested. It is very very bizzare. My prayer is that All the big men and those in Authorities have to suffer attacks and killings from the criminals and there after we can be safe.
You see, l will always blame the police and our court system, this guy was arrested and left off the hook to come back and killed a police man, the police themselves shouldn’t look beyond, most of these crim!nals are been aided and collaborated by this same police force. We have heard on countless occasions the police involvement in so many cr!minal cases . IGP please don’t look further, there are 3nemies within, start the fight from inside and would be easy for you to overpower those outsiders
