The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has in collaboration with the Ghana Airports Company Limited, banned all keep fit activities, at the premises of the Kumasi Airport.
“It is an offence to have any form of keep fit activity close to the Airport, as this is dangerous. Moreover, the area is a security zone which ought to be protected at all times,” Mr. Kwabena Nsekyire, the Ashanti Regional NADMO Coordinator, confirmed this to the GNA Sports, in Kumasi.
The main road to the Kumasi Airport and parks in the area, had over the years been used as training grounds by keep fit clubs and other sports men in the metropolis, especially in the morning.
Mr. Nsenkyire cautioned that in order to enforce the directive, his outfit had constituted a task force made up of personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, amongst others, to arrest and prosecute offenders.
“We are acting in the best interest of all as the security and safety of the people, remained our priority,” he noted.
