Right Reverend Dr Brew Riverson, former Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church, said extreme partisan politics is attributable to the current state of apathy and lack of consensus-building on important national issues.
In a statement issued in Kumasi on his views about the state of affairs in the country, the 90-year-old Reverend Minister said partisan politics was tearing the nation apart.
“It seems partisan politics is the poison that has been killing the nationalism and unity in our nation Ghana,” he said.
Rev. Riverson, describing himself as an advocate for leadership, service, peace, and unity in Ghana and Africa, said most of the contributions made on the airwaves failed to build the nation.
He said it was sad that people blamed only presidents for failures and successes of the nation, forgetting about their individual contributions to nation-building.
“We behave as if it is only the presidents who have the responsibility for the failures and successes of the nation. We forget it is the total population that decides what we, as a people, must do to push this nation forward”.
As a developing nation, he said, it was only the hard work and honest practices of the people such as prompt payment of taxes and avoiding corrupt practices and smuggling that could increase productivity and gross domestic product.
“We should all seek the progress of the nation and work as one people who love our nation”.
He stressed the need for the people to support their leaders and harness the best in everyone for national development.

Ghanaians should know better kraaa!!!!
POLITICAL LIFE IS SIMILAR TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE HUMAN PERSON. EVERY INDIVIDUAL GOES THROUGH VARIOUS STAGES IN LIFE TO EXHIBIT VARYING GOOD AND BAD CHARACTERS. THE GROWTH OF ONE INDIVIDUAL SHOULD NOT BE EXPECTED TO BE THE SAME AS OTHER INDIVIDUAL EVEN IF THEY ARE IDENTICAL TWINS. IT IS THEREFORE CRUCIAL FOR PARENTS AND FORMATORS TO PAID PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO EVERY INDIVIDUAL CHILD UNDER THEIR CARE. LIKEWISE POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS AMONG NATIONS MIGHT FOLLOW SOME COMMON IDEOLOGICAL PATTERN, YET, THE DETAIL EXECUTION OF SOME IDEOLOGIES MAY GIVE DIFFERENT IDENTITY TO DIFFERENT NATIONS. WHAT IS IMPORTANT AT EVERY POINT IN TIME IS TO ENFORCE THE RULE OF LAW WITHOUT ANY FEAR NOR COHESION. THE RULE OF LAW MUST ALWAYS BE SUPPORTED TO WORK FOR ALL. ANY SLACK IN THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE RULE OF LAW IS THE CAUSE OF CORRUPTION, INJUSTICE, INDISCIPLINE AND CHAOS. ANY FAILURE TO APPLY AND ENFORCE THE LAW OUT OF THREAT OF FAVOUR RESULTS IN BREAK OF LAW. IT EMBOLDENS NOISYYY CHARLATAN TO CAUSE MORE TROUBLES. THE LAW HAS NO RESPECT OF PERSONS AND JUSTICE MUST BE SOUGHT IN EVERY ASPECT OF NATIONAL LIFE. IT IS THE SOLID APPLICATION OF RULE OF LAW THAT KEEP EVERY NATION TOGETHER TO FIGHT AGAINST ANY ELEMENT OF INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL SABOTEURS WHO WORK TO HINDER PEACE AND PROGRESS IN EVERY NATION. THE DEMOCRATIC STRUGGLES IN GHANA, LIKE IT IS IN ANYWHERE IS A STRUGGLE BETWEEN GOOD AND BAD POLITICS MANIFESTING IN CERTAIN GROUPS OF INDIVIDUALS AMALGAMATED TO CONSTITUTE THE DIFFERENT POLITICAL PARTIES. THE COURAGEOUS APPLICATION AND ENFORCEMENT OF LAWS IS THE SUCCESS FOR EVERY GOVERNMENT TO MANAGE ANY POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT IN ANY PARTICULAR STATE. THE POLITICAL NOISEEE IN GHANA MUST BE SEEN AS A POLITICAL TRANSFORMATION AND NOT POLITICAL TENSION. THERE IS NEVER ANY TRANSFORMATION WITHOUT STRUGGLE WHICH CAN ALWAYS BE CONTROLLED WITH REASONABLE FORCE AND SWIFT APPLICATION OF LAW. THERE IS NO PERFECT SOCIETY ANYWHERE. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE FEARS FOR NOISYYY AND EMPTYYY THREATS OF DISGRUNTLED AND CORRUPT POLITICIANS WHO BANKS ALL THEIR HOPE IN CAUSING MAYHEM.
