The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed that Ghana’s Covid-19 cases have passed 100; with the current tally now pegged at 132.
According to the GHS, "as at the morning of 26 March 2020, a total of fifty-four (54) cases including three (3) deaths have been confirmed from the regular surveillance systems. All the three (3) cases that unfortunately succumbed to the disease were aged and had underlying chronic medical conditions. All the other fifty-one (51) cases are well; fourteen (14) are being managed at home and the rest are responding well to treatment on admission in isolation."
The GHS indicated on its portal that those people are "awaiting their test results and will be discharged when the results are negative".
Statistics put out shows that "the great majority of the confirmed cases are Ghanaians, who returned home from affected countries. Seven (7) are of other nationals namely: Norway, Lebanon, China, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom (UK).
The number of confirmed cases among travelers under mandatory quarantine who have been tested is seventy-eight (78)."
Meanwhile, in respect of contact tracing, "a total of 970 contacts have been identified and are being tracked.
“Out of these, 204 have completed the 14 days mandatory follow up,” the statement read.

What are we doing for our prison services are they safe?
CAN ANYONE CONFIRM OF A NEW CASE ON THE CORONA VIRUS? AM STANDING BY. THANKS
136 as at 10.am,27/03/2020 per GHS
I think so far we have managed this outbreak very well given our own peculiar situation. 78 out of the quarantined persons have tested positive! Wow! What would have happened if govnt hadn't taken that decision? The bulk of the infected persons being Ghanaians returning home from abroad, and in isolation or quarantined to stop the community spread. We have done well and should be parting ourselves and our government on its back. I don't envy leadership one bit at such a time as this. I can only pray and wish them well.
We did not expect this numbers, but this is obviously scare mongering journalism. Is 162 "skyrocketing?"
Headlining the news article with a word like "shock" will only promote fear and panic!!! In these times the critical role played by the media must be used effectively to keep people informed without spreading panic!!!
we will soon be informed by closed of nextweek that it has reached 4000. eeeeeei hmmm political interference
nana should send everyone 1000 gh and we can stay at home for the lock-down....and make sure he provide toilets for those in mamobi and nima, and housing for kayayo, water, light 24/7....the rich are calling for lock down forgetting the needy majority
My paddy lock-down is not an easy decision to take ooo! It is easy out there in the west because there is access to basic amenities. Here in Ghana some communities don't even have toilet facilities in their homes. Much as I agree that life must be protected, we have to prepare very well before we go into lock-down. On the whole, this situation has exposed our weakness and unpreparedness as a people in times like these. Any lessons to be learnt??
@Steamilla: Do you the implication "lack-down", People live on minimum daily wage. Water is not flowing kayayo people sleep on streets. Some people sleep in kiosk masa chill oh the government advisers know all these.
