I think this is a good policy. The few that trade there should inconvenience the majority that ply the route. Traffic will be reduced and productivity will be enhanced. The affected traders should be allocated in the markets to continue trading. This ensures order in our system. Disorder is also contributory factor to the inefficiencies in our economic system. All these petty traders on wheels make something but are not easily located to contribute to the tax system. However I don t fully agree with the starting rate for the E levy. It should have started at 1% and the reference of it replacing the toll booth is not congruent. We could have still apply the E levy at 1% and still charge a toll levy per category of vehicle upon renewal of licence per year say 400 cedis for private car and 600 for commercial cars. With the reported nearly 1 million cars in the system that will bring in an average of 500million per year , which is far better than the 78 million the toll boots were bringing in . Also all foreign cars coming in will be made to pay the same rate of toll levy at the border points to add to he numbers.
