A medical doctor at the Catholic Hospital in Battor in the Volta Region, Dr Kofi Effah has rejected a Honda SUV car from the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa over source of funding.
The hardworking medical doctor rejected the car albeit all manner of persuasion by the lawmaker that the car was bought from his share of the Commond Fund, MP’s personal Contribution and donations by some unknown persons close to the MP.
Another reason why Dr. Effah rejected the car has to do with lack of robust structures for rewarding health workers in the district which will end up having people describe the gift as favouritism.
Okudzeto Ablakwa was reported to have insisted on gifting the car to the doctor until the doctor said he wanted to discuss it with his family first.
This was said to have infuriated the lawmaker who believed to have been disgraced in the presence of the Medical Superintendent and Administrator of the Catholic Hospital in his office in Accra.
He therefore withdrew the car offer in less than 12 hours after the meeting on Thursday February 3, 2023.
Interestingly, the MP was said to have caused media reports that the doctor has accepted the car.
This has angered the doctor’s family, prompting them to issue a statement on Monday February 13, 2023 to deny ever receiving any car from Okudzeto Ablakwa.
The family described the news making rounds in the media that the lawmaker has gifted the medical doctor a car as wrong.
This come after report emerged that Mr. Ablakwa has donated a brand new Toyota Prado V6 to Dr. Effah for his long service at the Catholic Hospital.
However, a statement from the family signed by Kwadwo Osei Effah, on behalf of the family indicates that they have not received any car from the MP though they have been bombarded by series of messages congratulating Dr. Effah following the media reports.

Am happy the doctor didn't accept it, like by now, he has come out with so many lies about the doctor, a person who hasn't work before in any company or any work in his entire life, because of politics, today he has been rich overnight for him to even buy a SUV car for someone, he will turn around to call someone criminal
Bogus story. The MP isn't in government. If you don't like the car, is this a news. There are lots of mess in this country and this is the story you find ***barred word***.
It is sad that there so many haters and political sycophants who may have just been looking for opportunity to attack Ablakwa because he has gored their oxen. Ablakwa is not in government, but many neutralnabd philanthropists support him because of his works, which are clear and visible to all. Managing to get support and funding from private sources for your campaign and other political activities is what make a good politician, and Ablakwa has proven to be one of such. As for the doctor and his family, they sjould be careful not to allow political affiliation and mischief drive their actions; this will not help them in the long run; the reporting news media, Daily Guide, clearly shows the negative politics in all of this. Ablakwa is a political colossus, an enviable feat he has achieved through his honesty, hardwork, selflessness and love for country. No amount of propaganda will derail his successes and progress.
This is jimmy jimmy story, The storyteller lacks credibility, tell us where and when the MP announce to you that he has given a car to the Doctor. Stop fishing to paint the MP black. You better tell us how Ghana Economy will be managed better without stilling our Money.
For those who know how to set up go-fund me, can someone set up one to solicit funds to buy SUV car for this doctor?
🤣🤣🤣🤣 so now the doctor has suddenly become a hero and is even fit to lead us?
This Doctor really has integrity. Not all is lost in Ghana after all. We should be pushing for such to be our political leaders
If we treat all politicians like this, corruption will be treated with disgust. If we have more people with principles like this doctor, Ghana will go very far. He wasn’t being disrespectful. He simply asked for an objective measure of rewarding people, both now and the future. This is a generational thinker. If that makes you angry, then it is clear you gave the gift for vain glory. Well done Doc. Your service is noted by God and you’ll be blessed accordingly.
The Family SHOULD HAVE contacted First then the HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION SO THAT A COMPROMISE WOULD HAVE BEEN REACHED BEFORE THE PRESENTATION
Hmmmnnn, where were these so called 'donors' / personal resources when you were driving a junk golf car. The vehicle had to be pushed to enable it start because you couldn't even afford a car battery. Today you have personal resources to by a Honda CRV for people. I salute this doctor on his stand. There is still hope for Ghana with such principled and honest people around however few. If it were possible Ghanaians should encourage this man to stand for the presidency. These are the people who deserve to lead. The good lord richly bless him.
