An Appeals Court Judge, Justice Nasiru Sulemana Gbadegbe, has said there is no evidence to prove that the judiciary is manipulated by the Executive arm of government.
According to Justice Gbadegbe, the assertion is a misinformation and a mere perception of the public. He made the observation when he appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament for vetting as one of the Presidents nominees to the Supreme Court.
He emphasized the need to simplify the language of law to make it easy for the public to understand. In a related development, Justice Vida Akoto-Bamfo, another Appeals Court Judge, nominated by the President to the Supreme Court, told the committee that in passing the Intestate Succession Law, the polygamous nature of society was taken into consideration. This has therefore created a huge challenge for the application law.
