A leading member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alfred Woyome, has called on the security agencies to investigate the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly planning to foment war in the country.
Mr. Woyome was reacting to the NPP legislator for Assin North, Kennedy Agyepong, who had earlier in the day threatened that Ghana will plunge into a state of genocide if the ruling party dares rig the 2012 general elections.
The MP too was replying to the Communications Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, who told a London-based news network, Focus Radio that the NDC is ready to deal with the NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo and his cohorts if they dare make a wrong move to incite passion in the country.
Mr. Woyome said Anyidoho was referring to using legal processes to bring trouble makers to book, but believes Agyepong was making a statement of intent.
οΏ½The country is being ruled by law and order,οΏ½ Woyome said on Citi FMοΏ½s Eyewitness News on Wednesday. οΏ½If Ken believes he has prepared to turn this country into Rwanda then the BNI [Bureau of National Investigations] and other security agencies should act promptly and invite Agyepong for questioning. οΏ½
οΏ½They must stop beating war drums. Ghana is no longer a οΏ½patapaa nationοΏ½,οΏ½ he stated.
