A polling station executive of the New Patriotic Party in Adenta, Prophet Eastwood Koranteng, who has decided to contest as an independent candidate is predicting doom for the NPP in the constituency.
According to the prophet, the numerous bickering among executives of the party will result in NPP candidate Frances Assiam�s defeat.
He insisted Assiam is an illegitimate candidate. He further added that �there is no democracy in the Adenta Constituency that is why I have decided to go independent. �
Prophet Koranteng alleged, �The parliamentary candidate and the executives are not on good terms and some of the executives have decided to vote skirt and blouse which means they would vote in favour of NDC so I decided to stand as an independent candidate. �
He further alleged that Assiam has not resigned from the Democratic Freedom Party saying that �you can check it from them whether they have a letter to show that Madam Frances Assiam has resigned from that party. �
�According to the constitution that governs our party, you have to stay in a constituency for four or five years and she joined NPP in 2009 and she contested for primaries and they have voted for her,� he stated.
Meanwhile, madam Assiam has accused the party�s Adenta constituency chairman, Richard Obri Yeboah, of paying GHc 3,000 to Prophet Koranteng to resign from the party to go independent.
She has asked all the party members to remain calm but called on the NPP national executives to investigate the activities of the constituency chairman whom she has also accused of frustrating her campaign ever since she won.
