The much anticipated eagerly awaited trial of the NPP MP for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong has begun at the Cocoa Affairs Court at Adjabeng, Accra amidst heavy security presence.
The lawmaker is being tried for making some treasonable comments on radio.
In the courtroom are bigwigs of the NPP including the National Chairman, Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, General Secretary Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, MP for Okere, Dan Botwe, and a host of others.
The embattled NPP MP is sandwiched between his wife and Anthony Karbo, National Youth Organiser in the courtroom.
Meanwhile, hundreds of party faithfuls, clad in black with red bands adorning their arm and wrists, have swarmed the court premises chanting war songs and demanding his immediate release.
Kennedy Agyapong was arrested on Monday and charged with treason after declaring war on OmanFM over what he said was the violence meted out to NPP supporters by their NDC counterparts across the country.
If found guilty, Hon. Agyapong could face the death penalty.
