The spokesperson for Ghana's former Minister of Trade, Industry and Private Sector Development, Alan Kyeremanten, Madam Hilda Addo has alleged that the emergence of posters campaigning for Alan Kyeremanten is being controlled from within the party.
She intimated to Citi News, I am inclined to believe that this is an intra-party something. I will not blame NDC, PPP, KKK [or] NNN and I believe I have to come out openly and tell people and tell NPP members, those people going round doing that thing that its premature.
"Weve come out of elections. The party claims its going to court, we havent been there yet; here we are, still crying over the elections. Then somebody, I believe, mischievously comes out and prints Allans posters or whatever and puts them out there for people to think that Allan Kwadwo Kyeremanten is campaigning for 2016.
Some campaign posters of the onetime Presidential aspirant of the party emerged around Bomso area near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with the NPP logo in Kumasi with the inscription, "I Am Still For Ghana - John Alan Kyerematen,
According Madam Addo who is also a former NPP Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency, the act is in poor taste as the party prepares to go to court to challenge the election results.
Citi News Ashanti Regional correspondent, Betty Ohemaa Agyemang reported that Madam Addo has blamed some members of the party for perpetrating that act which according to her, is discrediting the morality of Mr. Kyeremanten in the face of the partys challenges with the just ended elections.
We Are Not Behind Alan Kyeremanten Posters - Ashanti NPP
The Ashanti Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied circulating posters of one-time Presidential aspirant of the party, Alan Kyeremanten which indicate he is next in line to take up the flagbearership position of the NPP.
The Spokesperson of Mr. Kyeremanten and former Member of Parliament for the Kwadaso constituency, Gifty Addo in an earlier interview alleged that the circulation of the posters in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi was being carried out by some NPP members.
Speaking on Citi FMs Eyewitness News on Monday, the Ashanti Regional NPP General Secretary, Samuel Payne however, attributed the act to the works of persons, he notes, are seeking to bring down the party.
I have not cited any such posters but even if it is going round, it is definitely not coming from the quarters of the NPP. I believe, because we have [intelligence] and we are aware.
He noted: We are going to look into it and come out with whatever decision that we would want to take... it hasnt come to the attention of the party.
According to Mr. Payne, the party was currently concerned with the dispute over the rigging of the 2012 Presidential elections in favour of incumbent President, John Dramani Mahama.
On the partys planned demonstration against the Electoral Commission on Tuesday in Kumasi, Mr. Payne explained that all was set for a memorable event.
We do believe that democracy has a lot of avenues for redress. Some can go through the legal processes, others can do a demonstration, it could even be a one man thing to protest... so in this situation, the party is seeking legal redress from the law court. The people on the ground would also want to tell the world that 'yes, we feel aggrieved' and that 'we are also protesting vehemently against the conduct of some Electoral staff in the 2012 Demeter 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections'.
