Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong, is calling for greater collaboration between the public and the security services in the fight against illegal mining and armed robbery.
He says the threat posed by such activities to security in the region and other parts of the country cannot be trivialized.
Mr. Sarpong assures the Ashanti Region will in the coming months become a no go area for criminals as his office is ready to marshal all available resources to eliminate the miscreants.
He was speaking at the 2012 West Africa Security Services Social Activities (WASSA) organized by the Ashanti Regional Police Command in Kumasi.
Regional Police Commander, DCOP Augustine Gyenning on his part said, the command was committed to its core mandate of protecting life and property.
He called on residents to report criminals in their vicinity to enable police flush them out.
