No one can do away with investing huge sums of monies into an organization if he wishes to form a political party. You can have all the noble men and women on your side but without money, expect fewer votes after you have contested in an election.
Money is certainly part of the ingredient needed to make a political party formidable.
The New Patriotic Party has been in opposition for some years now and it is obvious the party has invested huge sums of monies to see the presidential ambition of Nana Akufo Addo come through.
Twice he has tried but to no avail; this has set the agenda for some to suggest that it's about time he hang his political gloves and take a back seat.
But General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party disagrees with those who share this sentiment. Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, in an interview with OKAY FM disclosed that maintaining Nana Akufo Addo would save the entire party money and time.
He grieved over going through the process of selecting suitable candidates to lead the party, with explanations that it is time consuming and a wasteful exercise to embark on.
He argued that Nana Akufo Addo had already been marketed and people would easily vote for him compared to a new candidate. He vowed as General Secretary of the party to fight and ensure that Nana Akufo Addo is presented as flagbearer for the party in 2014.
Nana Akufo Addo Has No Choice
Nana Addo has no choice and cant denial the offer of leading the party now. It is the party members who have a say and not Nana Addo. Nana Addo has already marketed himself and it is easier to sell him than other candidates. Last years election proved that Nana Addo had more votes than the current president and even within our party, people voted for him than our parliamentary candidates, he said.
It is for the welfare of the nation that the party has chosen him to lead us. We want someone to liberate us from our suffering and there is no other person who can do the work better than Nana Akufo Addo, he finally said.
