A leading member of the National Democratic Congress, Alban Bagbin, has described the New Patriotic Party as a wounded elephant that is only fighting in desperation and urged NDC supporters to capitalise on that to vote it into the bush.
Speaking at the launch of the 2016 manifesto launch in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region Saturday, Mr Bagbin however asked the NDC not to be complacent in this year’s December 7 elections.
“Yes, we need to work hard, no complacency, and we have to be vigilante on the election day but with such a wounded elephant I don’t know what they can do apart from fight with desperation,” he said to a cheering crowd at the sunyani Coronation Park.
He said the habitat of the elephant, which is the official emblem of the NPP, is the bush, hence asked Ghanaians to come together to “fulfill the prophesy of Dr Arthur Kennedy by chasing the elephant into the bush.
That is its natural heritage. Mr Bagbin who is the Majority leader in Parliament was certain of NDC victory in this year’s election which he has projected a 57 per cent win for the party, saying “the 57 percent target is achievable. Yes we need to work hard”.
He grounded his projection on what he said is the implementation of the NDC’s transformational agenda. Mahama “has injected more vim and vitality to the implementation of the agenda and has visibly change the lives of many Ghanaians and transformed the country.
The results is that Ghana has the lead in WA as the upcoming country. “I’m sure on behalf of the 275 parliamentary candidates and on my own behalf…We will achieve agenda two -thirds of MPs.
We are targeting 184 members of parliament and we will attain that,” he added. According to him, Ghana is the second largest economy in West Africa after Nigeria and 12 largest in Africa.
He claimed Ghana has the highest national income among its neighbours, noting the quality of life of the people has improved tremendously thus catapulting life expectancy of its citizens from 58 yrs from 2008 to 64 yrs in 2012.
“Ghanaians have seen the rest, it is now time to see the best. I want to wish all parliamentary candidates a resounding success as his he the president has already won.
“With a galaxy of such capable messengers as parliamentary candidate led by an accomplished president John Mahama as our presidential candidate, I’m more than confident that NDC will win with a wide margin,” Mr Bagbin said.

NDC is a garrbage party. I will join the millions of Ghanaians who will say a big "NO" to NDC. Mahama/NDC have had more resources to make Ghana better but have failed to help us. People are jobless, food and rent are expensive, we are not getting what we deserve after 8 years of NDC. 12 years is too much for one party to take us for granted. Rawlings used 19years and when he was going we were HIPC. We cannot let bad people stay in government for more than 8 years. Mahama and NDC must go to opposition and have a new look at things from there. Vote for Change to make Ghana better. 8 years of NDC is enough. It is time for change.
A wounded elephant can be healed by vetinary doctors but a broken and dismantled umbrella has nowhere to go except it is thrown out in the garbage. NDC is holding on to straws and there is no hope. The elephant can be healed in three days and back to work, what about a broken umbrella lying on the street? Nobody bothers to take it when cars and heavy trucks run over it, until a good Samaritan dumps it in the dumpster, and that is us*less ndc for you. Their elders even don't make sense, they all talk like their serial callers. How can you compare an elephant a living thing to a dead umbrella?no wonder JJ Rawlings didn't go, because he knew none of them was going to make sense and it's a pity he fought hard with his wife to bring back this us*less party. JJ w'abre agu. Instead of these people laying down what they have for the people they rather chose Nana Addo and the NPP as their campaign message. Thank you fo*ls for selling g NPP which is already attractive to the people and we shall all buy that party. NPP we love you and will vote for you. These people have no message, they are thi*ves and just scared of the NPP going to jail them for ste*ling and gargantuan corruption. By this time next year Nana Addo is the president and Bagbin will be on retirement because he will definitely be defeated.
