President John Dramani Mahama has admitted giving out money during a campaign trail as captured in a video which has gone viral on various media platforms.
According to the Daily Post Newspaper which spoke to the President currently in the USA, the incident happened when they entered Sabon Zongo through a narrow and a heavy crowd following him.
The president who has since laughed off claims he was distributing money according to paper explained that from the top of his vehicle, he saw a little girl with a tray of boiled egg in the crowd being pushed by the cheering crowd amidst the jostling. The tray fell from the girl’s head and the crowd trampled on the fallen eggs. The girl then burst into tears.
Touched by what only he could see because of where he was standing, he ordered the man who commands his convoy (who was in his vehicle) to stop the convoy. The convoy thus stopped.
President Mahama said he then took GH¢50 from his ADC, pointed to the crying girl in the crowd and then reaching down from the top of the vehicle, gave it to a woman standing by her thinking she was with the girl.”
However, he was surprised to see the girl still crying so he asked her if the woman was the mother. When the girl shook her head and he noticed the woman had moved away, he took another GH¢50 from his ADC and gave it to the girl. This drew wild cheers from the teeming crowd.”
President Mahama recalled that it was even the crowd that helped the girl forward towards his vehicle to enable her take the money because they knew he was compensating her for what she had lost. It explains why the people around were not scrambling for the money.

If the chief of staff was not sure what the president was distributing, why did he come out with the defense? Besides the chief of staff, others including Dan Abodakpi said the president was distributing leaflet and went as far as saying the video was doctored.
So the Chief of Staff says Mahamah was perhaps distributing leaflets and not money. Now Mahamah says he gave money out. Sometimes the NDC people can lie so well that they tend to make lying a professional dusty. Let them keep doing so
Pathetic! If the economy is as "good" as you want everyone to believe little girls will not be selling in the streets.
This man have no shame. You gave 50gh to a little girl selling ice water My goodness the little whose is suppose to in the class room selling water and a whole president is encouraging child labor? My goodness, and will soon mount a campaign platform to tell Ghanaian that all children in school age are in school according to the green book. President, come again. If that is what happens, the ministry of children women must take up this case.
God will defend you, they will say all sort of thing against you but I can assure you, you will win and win massively because I appreciate your work and development and believe many Ghanaians also appreciate your work. We are going to reward with our vote. JM toaso
I wonder if people understand English, the chief of staff never said he was sharing leaflet, he said he may be sharing leaflet, meaning the man was not sure what the president was sharing. NPP concluded he was sharing money and he said he may be sharing leaflet simple English, this is no lie but I agree with those that will say the chief of staff should have verify before jumping to president defense.
WE DON'T NEED YOUR CHARITY . WE NEED JOBS. CREATE A CONDUCIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR BUSINESS TO THRIVE. FIX DUMSOR. WE ARE TIRED OF YOUR EMPTY PROMISES NDC.
one man one 50GHC note
Mr President, if you are giving 50ghs to the crying girl you saw, I want to tell you that then you have failed ghanaians. You promised a better ghana in 4years and look at what you are seeing. Due to your bad governance and mismanagement of the economy, there are many of this girl you gave money to. They are crying in the villages and the streets of cities. Manage the economy well and their parents will take care of them. The crying children on our streets don't need your 50ghs, they need jobs for their parents for their parents to take good care of them. You and your NDC are failures. If I were you I would have bow my head in shame and stop campaigning after all the noise about your achievements. Sorry for you.
Look at this oo...so what was the chief of staff trying to tell us? Shame on him.
