The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has told the people in the three regions of the North to vote massively for President John Mahama - one of their own - to guarantee a sustained development of the area.
He said chiefs in the area, in particular, must weigh the consequences of choosing between Mahama, who is seeking re-election and what the largest opposition party, the NPP is offering.
Mr Debrah, who led a one week campaign in the Upper West region last week, targeted electorate at the grassroots level, explaining government’s achievements and policies intended to create enhanced opportunities.
“If the system is working we must keep it going to bring about the change we desire. Countries like Malaysia have achieved progress not because they changed governments but because they kept governments that were working,” the former local government minister stated to round off his campaign in the region.
The Chief of Staff whose campaign tour included cinema shows to let the people appreciate development projects in the health, roads, education, power and other sectors of the economy, further explained why Dr Bawumia cannot have the capacity Mahama has to change the lives of their people as claimed by the NPP.
“In every moving vehicle, there is someone behind the steer and a driver’s mate. The driver determines which direction the car is move. The mate may have a say, but the driver takes the ultimate decision.
“In this simple analogy, President John Mahama is the driver. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia a Vice Presidential candidate will be the diver’s mate should Nana Addo win and cannot have the ultimate power. If he proposes something for you and Nana Addo says later, there is nothing he can do,” Mr. Debrah told the chiefs and people of Kaleo.
He added: “When President Rawlings was President, all Ghanaians voted for him. They gave him eight years and he did what he could. During President Kufuor’s regime, all Ghanaians again voted for him so he served two terms also eight years. The late President Atta Mills would also have had that opportunity. Now one of your own, President John Mahama has done only two years and some people want him out. Is that fair? We are not saying just vote for him but at least let’s give him the opportunity to also serve eight years then we can compare all three. But I bet you. By the end of President Mahama’s second term, Ghana will see massive transformational change.”
The Chief of Staff’s campaign to the Upper West region was intended to close the vacuum that might have been left during the absence of the President who was in New York to attend the 71st UN General Assembly.
He also used the opportunity to explain the NDC 2016 manifesto and assured the people and the nation at large of more projects with focus on job creation.

Helloooo Mr. Debrah, i think you have just forgotten that the president was also once a mate before he became a driver. pls note, there are many drivers' mates who are more efficient, competent, knowledgeable and sensible than the drivers' themselves. The fact the current "mate" in NDC is nothing to write home about does not means all mates are the same. Pls sit back and revise your notes.
Kwasi Debra don't go where you are going. You are not even a driver's mate but you claim you are able to help your people. What has your driver done for the people you are telling them not to vote for driver's mate? You chopped the money you were suppose to use to help them curtesy SADA. For what the NDC has done against the northners, are you not ashaaamedd to even go and say someone is a driver's mate. Be sincere a little. You know deep within yourself that you have failed Ghanaians. Just say it and beg us for that second term you desire sooo much. Why is NDC soooo desperate for power at all cost? Tell us what you can do different from what you have done in the past 8years? Are you going to stop inflating contract sums? Are you going to stop the sole sourcing which goes for only NDC members? Are you going to bring down interest rates? What at all can you do? You have failed, accept and say something better. Go to the Universities and you get some TAs who are better than the real lecturers.
Is the Chief of Staff saying that all Akans must vote for an Akan. If that happens only Akans will rule Ghana because they are MAJORITY.
After all when the mate is competent he will help the driver by given him a good advice . If I may asked this FAT P1G Julius Dabrah who have eaten too much and talking nosins, what has John Mahama your boss done for us Northerners since his gov't come to power and he was the veep and now the president of Ghana. I remember and this is an evidence base, that when the NPP made Alihaj ALIU MAHAMA the Veep he and his NPP gov't where able to build first class STADIUM in Temale, so what has John Mahama then for us a a Northerner Veep and a President ???
WHILE THOSE THAT SEEK SUCCESS BURNS THE CANDLE LIGHT IN THE NIGHT, THEIR COMPATRIOTS SLEEPS. THEN WHEN THEY FAIL, THEY GO TO COURT. SO KEEP THE LIGHT BURNING TILL VICTORY IS SECURED. THE STRATEGY WORKS, YAA NOM BELIEVES THAT THEY HAVE THE MAJORITY OF THE PRESS ON THEIR BACKS, SO THEY STAY IN ACCRA AND HOLD PRESS CONFERENCES. EXPECTING THE MEDIA TO CARRY IT AROUND. BUT WHAT THEY DON`T KNOW IS THAT MAJORITY OF THE ELECTORATE READS, UNDERSTAND AND CAN DISCERN. THAT CAMPAIGNS ARE DIFFERENT FROM CRITIQUE. EVEN A STRIKING EQUILIBRIUM IN THE MAIN OPPOSITION KNOWS THAT THEY ARE NOT DOING THE RIGHT THING, MOSTLY ARE THE EAGER YOUTH AMONG THEM. BOTH IN ABROAD AND HOME. MOVE WITHIN THEIR CIRCLES AND YOU WILL HEAR STARTLING REVELATIONS. AND YOU WONDER WHETHER THEY INTEND TO WIN POWER. BUT YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THEM. JUST KICK OUT OLD BOZO AND HIS GANG, THEN WE WILL REFORM AND REVIVE THE PARTY.
Another GOAT in NDC. By extension, Paa Kwesi Amissah rthur is also a DRIVERS MATE, NOT SO? It is ery sad how people you may think are sensible can now be talking with their stomach rather their head. First it was calabash headed Amissah Atrthur who said Nana is short - a very senseless statement. Now this pointed headed man says, Bawumia is a drivers mate. ***barred word*** TALK. ***barred word*** TALK. ***barred word*** TALK.
Eeeeeii so you too you can lie like this. For your information Mr. T-h-I e-f of staff your boss has been in power for more than 4years and not 2years as you claim. Secondary, per your accessement our Fanti brothers should vote against NDC because the Vice President is a "mate" as you put it and he can't help them because whatever he seek from the president to the Fantis will not be materialize. Shame on you Mr. Debrah😏
T---H---I--E--V--E---S.
Must u always denigrate and attack pple's personalities in the name of campaign? Pathetic!! What u fail to realise is, the more you insult and pursue u dirty tactics of ridiculous name calling, the sympathetic and assured we are of tilting towards the opposition. Julius, it's very disappointing what uve become cos u one of the few politicians who did some sort of "descent " politics". But I guess uve been shoved to join the compatriots in your party in the gutters to spew gar.bage. Thought u were better than this but I guess I was wrong.
