Dr Isaac Owusu-Mensah, a senior lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, has said he has received death threats from some members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) after predicting victory for the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flag bearer in this year’s elections, following research he conducted on the upcoming polls.
Speaking on State of Affairs on GHOne TV with Nana Aba Anamoah on Monday, 29 November, Dr Owusu-Mensah said: “I have received death threats from NDC members.”
Pressed further by Nana Aba Anamoah about how knew those death threats were coming from NDC members, Dr Owusu-Mensah said he had friends and family members who are part of some social media platforms created for NDC members only, and, so, he was aware of all the plots being hatched against him by his NDC adversaries.
The academic and his team of researchers predicted that the opposition party would record 49.9%, while the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), the team said, had an approval rating of 39.9%.
The Progressive People’s Party (PPP), the research continued, would record five per cent while the Convention People’s Party (CPP) would likely receive 1.7 per cent, the National Democratic Party (NDP) 1.7 per cent, and 0.2 per cent for Dr Edward Mahama of the PNC.
Three per cent of respondents to the quantitative and qualitative survey, the researchers said, were not ready to vote for an independent candidate while 0.9 per cent of the respondents failed to give an answer.

Why would any one threat the professor? if ppl r threatened because of opinion polls then ppl like Uncle Ben should be dead by now. Mr. Prof. pls come again cos ur story doesn't hold water. Tell us something tangible and credible ok.
Please fellow Ghanaians, don't let us rubbish threats of death from any one. 1.A DCE was shot dead in his home 2.an MP (Hon. J.B. Danquah Adu) was killed in his bedroom. 3.An NPP constituency executive was killed at the full glaring of his wife and children. 4.An NPP executive has recently been killed on his return from a rally grounds. 5.Kwabena Boadu, Dr. Bawumiah's aid has just died by so-called electrical fault. Think about the countless number of people that have been either killed or maimed. Some are politically affiliated whiles others are not. Let us give the lecturer the benefit of the doubt. May God expose every killer/murderer of innocent Ghanaians, whoever they they are.
IF NPP thinks these polls are good for them they should stop campaigning. This is what they plant in the mind of their illiterate supporters and when they loose they feel they have been cheated and start misbehaving on the street. As for this legon so called dr the least said about him the better. He should bound down his head in shame.
