President Mahama has handed over brand new vehicles to members of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) at forecourt of the state house, Accra.
The vehicles which were procured to the private sector transport operatives on hire purchase arrangement through MASLOC will significantly enhance public transport and the comfort of the commuting Ghanaian public.
The cars and buses which are brand new and air-conditioned will drive on the newly asphalted roads in the cities, constructed by the Mahama government.
These new additions to the population of commercial vehicles on the country's roads will not only enhance the competitive edge of Ghanaian commercial drivers but also improve the travelling experience of the public.
Indeed this will further lift up Ghana's image as a tourist destination for foreign visitors into the country.
This new addition to the stock of public transport follow major investments by the government into public transport system this year alone.
Only last week President Mahama inaugurated the Aayalolo Bus Rapid Transport system with 245 brand new luxury air-conditioned buses which ply the Northern and Western trunk roads into the central business district of Accra.
A month earlier President Mahama presented the Intercity State Transport Company with 50 brand new air-conditioned Marcopolo buses. Even before that the government supplied the Metro Mass Transport Company with 116 brand new air-conditioned buses. They are fitted with USB phone charging ports and Wi-Fi.
All the above, in addition the procurement and supply of buses to secondary and tertiary education institutions have not only overhauled the system of transport in the country but also improved the travelling experience of Ghanaians.
The effect of these massive investments in the public sector will be a greatly improved standard of living of Ghanaians particularly at this time when fuel prices have marginally declined at the pumps making drivers extend distance travelled before refuelling.
In spite of indications from opposition members of the public that cost of living has hiked, the recent transformation of the transport system by the government will no doubt improve the standard of living of the average Ghanaian.
This current stride in the provision of transport services in the country goes to reinforce the Mahama government's campaign message that it is changing the lives of Ghanaians and transforming the country.

The most complainers in the Universe are Ghanaians. We have forgotten our horrible state under Acheampong and Akuffo which led to brain-drain and mass departure to Nigeria and CIV. Where we were treated like animals by the Nigerians and eventually mass deportation (do you remember Ghana must go?) to already hunger-ridden country. Today, we have enough to eat and drink, use most expensive phones and drives the finest cars on beautiful streets etc. The only thing we do best is insult dignities and complain about every wonderful project. May God forgive Ghanaians in Jesus' name.

Idi*ts who hide their real names and go for their enemies names always feel inferior and no self esteem and turn round to seek respect from those they've stolen their names, shame on you. If this long no sense, no logic comment could retain John mahama I wouldn't have any problem but to insult Ghanaians that these infrastructure are food for them to eat, it pays their school fees and NHIS, if that solves the unprecedented unemployment then you take us for fo*ls. John mahama will GO! whether circle interchange or Ridge hospital he will GO. Papa Kuffuor did more than John mahama has used GHC120BILLION to do with just GH20 Billion. But who told you to ste*l from the state to get scared of being prosecuted and jailed? If you came to serve the people and did a good job there wouldn't be any cause of alarm and there would have been all smiles on your faces.Time aso oooo time aso
