Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Volta Region have been directed to remain at post after the inauguration of the President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and his NPP government on January 7, 2017.
The Volta Regional Minister, Madam Helen Adjoa Ntoso, who gave the directive at the meeting of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in Ho last Tuesday, said all 25 MMDCEs were expected to perform their duties until they hand over to their successors appointed by the new government.
That, she noted, would ensure the continuous running of the assemblies, while the new government took time to nominate persons to fill the appointing positions in the assemblies.
She said: “After January 7, the new president is going to appoint ministers, district and municipal chief executives. This might take two to three months and not until people are nominated and confirmed, our municipal and district chief executives are supposed to be at post and work as usual, and not until I also hand over my position, I still remain the Volta Regional Minister.”
Madam Ntoso, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Krachi West, also cautioned the staff of the assemblies to comport themselves and cooperate with the MMDCEs to ensure a smooth running of the assemblies during the transition period.
“Let me warn technocrats who are working under the chief executives to cooperate with them. We don’t want to hear that people are refusing to sign documents because they think that a new government is in power. If you do that then you have yourselves to blame, because the NDC guys are more than the NPP guys in this region, so please comport yourselves as we did in 2009,” she stressed.
Meanwhile, the regional minister has asked the chiefs and people of the Volta Region to extend their support and cooperation to her successor just as they did for her administration under the President Mahama-led NDC government, to ensure the forward march of the region.

Sorry for the error but you cannot describe a woman as "HIS" a woman is *HER* and urge you to take note of that. However, this lady NDC minister doesn't much about the constitution of the republic as the NDC mandate expires on January 6th 2017 at midnight therefore has no right to gives directions to those DCEs or whatever the ***barred word*** they are called appointed by the incompetent Mahama led administration. The reason our country is messed up is having such people at higher positions in government due to lack of understanding of the constitution of Ghana. Merry Christmas Y'all
What's she talking about? Doesn't she know that her boss supremacy ends by mid-night,7th January 2017, and so is all his appointees. Mada fu cka.
Madam volta is PARADISE! You were stealing and enjoying. You thought everyone was like you.Go and enjoy your spoils!!!!!
Did I read the last portion correctly where she said the technocrats should comport themselves because the NDC guys are more than tha NPP guys? Seriously, this government can only be described as square pegged block headed individuals from top all the way down. There are people employed in the VR under that NADMO office headed by leather face portuphy and they can't even swim! They float! And you think being ndc will keep them at the job cause it's the Volta region?!? Madam, you better go get your teddy bear and take a long nap!
Thios lady does not know a lot administratively. The Prez-elect can decide to instruct Regional Ministers and District Chief Executives to handover to Coordinating Directors at the regional and district levels on day one and that is it. She cannot order bureaucrats about. It is this lack of appreciation of how the political and public administration systems work that has largely contributed to the heavy downfall of the NDC. The appointees are stark ***barred word*** of the requirements of the positions they occupied and did things off the top of their heads just like that. Even after defeat they have not learnt anything to go a little beyond knowing nothing.
Silly woman. You said Volta was a paradise. You will rot in opposition
WHY ARE POEPLE SUPRISE AT ALL THESE? DO YOU NOT KNOW NDC? THAT, IT IS A PARTY BORN FROM HELL, THRIVES ON HUMAN BLOOD,LIES AND ***barred word*** AS THEIR METHOD OF ACHIEVING WHATEVER THEY WANT TO ACHIEVE. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO DISCONFIT THEM AND MAKE THEM AS HE DID TO PHAROAH AND THE EGYPTIENCE. MAY THE LORD MAKE THEIOR PLANS AS THOSE OF AHITHOPHEL. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO PUNCH CRACKS AND HOLES IN THEIR SETUP. MUCH AS I DO NOT WISH ONE PARTY STATE FOR GHNANA ,I DO NOT THINK NDC IS AN ALTERNATIVE IN ANY DEMOCRATIC STATE. MAY GOD CAUSE THEM TO FIZZLE OUT
This instruction is erroneous because the out going Regional Minister doesn't have the power to issue this directive beyond Jan. 7th, 2017. It's recipe for confusion and conflicts. His directive is not ground in law nor make any sense. It would make sense if it were the same administration handing over to itself. They can only if only Nana wants them to. Nana can issue an instruction for all DCEs to hand over to the district coordinators who are the most senior non political officers in every district. Somebody school this politician and tell her she's dead wrong. I think she's suffering from ANAAPOTIC SYNDROME resulting from the shock of a devastating electoral defeat which is clouding his brains from thinking right. She should be ignored. She should be reminded that we have a winner takes all democratic system which is bad for Ghana but that is the reality. The continuity regarding the running of District administrations can be achieved through the leadership of the career District Coordinators but not DCEs who are shredding documents to cover their CR1M1NAL and corrupt acts.
Did u just threaten workers in Volta region that the NDC has more people than NDC if they refuse to sign contracts etc? That's too bad. You're a disgrace!
Good. God bless you
