The transition team of the incoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration has rejected allowances and other benefits which come with their work.
According to the spokesperson of the team Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the move was part of one of the austere measures to save the ailing economy. The MP-elect for Ofoase-Ayiribi in the Eastern region told the media, the transition team on the part of the NPP has refused to be fed at the expense of the State.
The former broadcaster stated Nana Akufo-Addo’s representatives have received all the handing over notes from the outgoing government.
“The interim report that we have provided for the president-elect essentially cover the basic bits of information we have received currently and most importantly some national security briefings between himself and his representative on the team responsible for national security, Mr. Albert Kan Dapaah. But the detailed interim report is what you just saw us meeting about which will be submitted to him before the inauguration day,” he added.
Meanwhile, he said the president-elect has requested for a comprehensive report on the state of the country ahead of the swearing-in ceremony in order to inform his decision from January 7, 2017 when he takes over.

These crop of ndc are really bad and evil as their founder who brought about about this devilish party on Ghanaians said. Ndc have no shame and they still have the guts to come here to spew their stuuupidity as usual. Instead of licking their miserable and humiliated wounds they still talking the trash that sent them to opposition and it will take them 200 years to know their foolishness. Any sensible person will keep quiet and punder about how they got trashed like that about 1.5 million margin and how are you gonna wipe this to take the lead? They think they can still fix their rigging machine and win,fix it hundred times it will be dismantled hundred times. There are so many people up there to do that job. Ghana is fed up with the insults, impunity, pride, arrogance,***barred word*** and uncultured attitude and the steaaling of the national coffers with impunity. They are all over radio stations with their bufooonery just annoying the people the more. It's a pity they don't recognize what sent them to opposition and repeating the same shiiit. Ndc are their own enemies and that will keep them forever in opposition. Ghanaians have shown to them they don't like them,Ghanaians hate disrespectful and dishonest people.
This should mark the re-introduction of selflessness and nationalism in our building. We have the chance for everything but not all things are necessary. Let the service for the nation be paramount. God bless the NPP transition team
Charity begins at home but .... it still tells me the modalities for transitions is not explicit. There is already a problem. Before all decisions about the transition is made the decision should be unanimous. So it is not as if, "oh I do not like it but if you like it, please carry on." It it is obvious that the providers for snacks and food will benefit the departing government hence every little way to reduce that benefit is still political. Who made the decision, the unfortunate Ghanaian attitude over the years is that since "I did not eat the food and the snacks, during the transition, that little sacrifice will later grow into a magnified right to own a government property. Can we be assured that it is what it takes to reject food and snacks because they are too little and would rather want to be paid a transition bonus? Good luck!
In 2008 the transition team spent some billions of old cedis. If this new team finds it prudent to manage the little we have as a country we seem to be moving in the right direction. Let us all rally around the flag to make this country a great nation.
It is good for Ghana at least it shows a difference between two leaders. One prefer to misuse the state resources whilst the other tries to manage it.
They should reject their pays for six months, that is real sacrifice. Even i can buy them food and snack, so refusing your refreshment is absolutely nothing.
