The former Deputy Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Joseph Yamin has stated that the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is being over ambitious about the implementation of the free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
The former Ashanti Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), questioned the rationale behind the statement read by the President on the policy.
Speaking on Abusua FM, he envisioned the challenges Ghanaians will go through if the policy is implemented.
Mr Yamin suggested to the President to also make the basic level education free for pupils to ease the burden on parents.
The former deputy NADMO Coordinator anticipated that there will be pressure on public schools which has the tendency to collapse private SHSs.
He observed that the country lacks the basic infrastructure (classrooms) to house students doubting the feasibility of the policy.
‘Nana Addo’s speech writers will not be of help to him if he starts implementation of the policy. Ghana will go through difficulties if this policy is implemented. Our prayer is that he succeeds so that Ghanaians will not go through any hardships. We shouldn’t be in a rush to judge the president but give him the benefit of the doubts to sustain the policy. Free education is not something new to the country, former President Mahama started free education in 2015 for day students, the only difference is that students will not pay admission fees. There will be mad rush in public SHSs. The eminent collapse of the private sector by a government that believes in the private sector is ahead of us, because private SHSs are not part of the policy,’ he anticipated.
On his part, the Ashanti regional Director of Communications of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Kwasi Kyei believes the President will succeed in the implementation of the policy.
‘We are not going to mess up, we have planned this since 2008 during our campaign, we will set our priorities right. We can do it if we use State resources wisely and don’t mismanage the economy. Nana Addo will definitely succeed,’ he expressed hope.

Yamin! Oh Awurade hu y3n mm)b). If a leader thinks big, he rather is over-ambitious? Oh God thank you for delivering us from non-thinking and slow-thinking minds like Yamin. No wonder Ghana became what it is. With minds like Yamin thinking at maximum 4 years for the sake re-election. Ei Awurade....
Tee,you are an NPP and so what?my foot! You are now ashamed to associate yourselves with your own party ndc? NPP Onaapo! The free SHS is coming on live no fu*king maggot filled brains to advise our president. Nana is on course and he is fulfilling the covenant he had with Ghanaians, all that ndc are thinking is for him to fail but lie lie, we have the competent group not Yamin type in government so he doesn't understand what's going on. How on earth can Yamin compete with Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Dr Osei Afriyie Akoto,Akoto Osei?y3 nua no S3n na aben.
Go buy some falafel and shawarma and rubb it into your hair jo!
Yamim go back to your country, you're a refugee, please leave Ghana and go back to your country. NDC can go to hell. Mahama failed woefully and could not even pay capitation grant.
Massa I am npp but I agree with yamin...nana addo should take his time..he should focus on the economy first before embarking on his visions...
When someone has a vision you say he is over ambitious. Sad case we are behaving as if Nana ADDO and his family will the sole beneficiaries of this important policy. We should all aim at helping Nana to succeed to reduce the illiteracy rate so that politicians would not take undue advantage of the masses. Education is key to our development.
Mr. Yamin, You do not look well at all in that picture. Please go for a complete physical exam. You look like you are at risk for a stroke. I am dead serious. Now, leave the president to do what he has been given the mandate to do. Ambitious or not, he is the one Ghanaians voted for. Did the guy take your car for the bet? You all have no shame.
Dr. Kyei God bless you. As for he shd continue to be block headed with a small mind.
