A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman for Klottey Korley in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Noi Nortey, is pleading with President Nana Akufo-Addo and party executives to forgive him for snubbing the NPP and contesting the 2016 elections as an independent parliamentary candidate.
He said circumstances beyond his control compelled him to reject the advice of the then flagbearer Akufo Addo, former President John Kufuor and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the run-up to the 2016 elections.
Nii Noi Nortey contested in the elections after an acrimonious primary which saw him lose against lawyer Philip Addison.
He accused Lawyer Addison and some party executives for rigging the election after a second primary was called. Nii Noi Nortey had won the first primary overwhelmingly amidst a boycott from the other candidates over the election date.
But now, upon reflection, Nii Noi Nortey admitted to Citi News that, he made a big political mistake, and he called on all persons who intervened in the Klottey Korle impasse “to forgive my actions and they shouldn’t take it as an act of disobedience.”
Nii Noi Nortey also stressed his love for the party, and indicated his willingness to still serve the NPP.
“I joined the party because I loved the party and all that. I never joined having in mind that one day, I may go independent. It is regrettable and unfortunate. I love the party anytime, any day, I will still do my best and do whatever I have to do for the party,” he said.
Nii Noi Nortey recalled that “the ex-President, J.A. Kufuor invited me to his house. The current president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on several occasions had discussions on that with me, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice, we had discussions too.”
“There was a lot of politics going on that I wouldn’t want to delve into.”
The incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, polled 33,609 votes, the NPP’s Lawyer Addison had 29, 122, whereas the Independent Candidate, Nii Noi Nortey, polled a meager 3, 911 votes.

I thank God that you have come to your senses to apologise. You hv come back because NPP is in power, fine. The elders should accept him and all those who plotted for Nana's defeat to the party after four years. They should contribute before they chop. Since they planned evil against Nana last year, they should come out to campaign for Nana next four years before the elders consider them any position in the Government.
It takes two to tango they say. You were with a party in opposition, trying so hard to win power amid divisions. You decided to go independence and add to our woes because you were hurt for whatever reasons. Elders who matters in the party pleaded with you over and over but with pride & arrogance you saw no wisdom in their plea. You went your way so what's your problem? If you want to rejoin the party no problem but note you are joining as a normal member. And to the leaders of NPP please be very careful not give this guy any preferential treatment or position so as not set any BAD Precedence. I will personally sponsor & organise demonstration against NPP should you dare to give this selfish and unreasonable Nii Noi any post.
NII your votes plus addison's votes could have won the seat for npp instead of ndc. moreover, floating voters who could not decide because of your division decided to vote for other candidates. you cannot be trusted again, carry on with your independence.
Nii former President Kuffour, Now Vice-President and Now President all advised you to back down for Addison, but you REFUSED their pleas. If you have NOT listen to them last year, HOW can they also the Elders also listen or accept your pleads to you now? Because NPP has won that is why you are now scheming like this. By the way the Elders DO NOT have Trust in you any more. My advise to you is to Help Addison in diverse ways for him to win next election. This the elders will recognize your work.
You are not ashamed that all these people spoke to you but you did not listen? Sorry but you can clearly see that NPP does not need your support to win an election and that makes you a non entity when it comes to serving the party. Small Boys are young and they will not learn too.
Its very difficult to sympathize with you because I personally sent you a mail on facebook asking to rescind your decision of going independent but you wouldn't listen. I recalled I told that you very young and you have a lot of years ahead of you and that once Nana Addo has even invited you to his house one day when he becomes a president he will give you a good job but you wouldn't listen to all this advise.. Now you have destroyed your political career because you were listening to some people who you thought were doing you good. Sammy Crab..Sammy crab your adviser is even begging Nana Addo. I pray the NPP will helps you
Did I hear you say, all of these noble men spoke to you in private, what if you had won the parliamentary election, would you ve come and beg for forgiveness, by hook or crookkk u wanted to go to parliament, even if the was going to lose, you sought ur personal interest, by ignoring the wise council of these leaders and the collective interest of the party and the country as whole, Nii stubbornn flies will always go to the grave with the corpse
This man cannot be trusted.A backstabber. He should never be allowed to come back into the party. As for forgiveness I will entreat him to beg the elders he disobeyed and not the party.I dont think the party has anything to do with you u Judas
NDC mole, you will choke imo all the cash that they paid you to split the votes. Fr@udster!
i still stand by u. u were not treated right
