Anti-corruption campaigner, Mr Paul Collins Appiah Ofori, thinks that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was committed to fighting corruption in Ghana and has therefore called on the public to give him more time to settle.
He thinks a period of one year would be enough for President Akufo-Addo to put things in order and start cracking the whip.
“That is when you will see the true character of Nana Addo, I have confidence in him that whoever has stolen the nation’s money, whether during the NDC era or under his administration will be dealt with,” the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa said in a radio interview with Accra-based Rainbow Radio on Tuesday.
He said he was sure President Akufo-Addo would deal drastically with any government official who would be found in a corruptible act.
“I believe that if an auditor’s report reveals that there is corruption somewhere, or if somebody has stolen the country’s money, he will not spare them,” he said.
He added that the President would enforce the law on corruption and that, ‘those who need to go to prison will go to prison, those whose properties needs to be confiscated to the state, to pay for the money they have stolen, will be seized’ he said.
‘There are many cases at the Attorney Generals department, but they do not have the courage to deal with them, so the Special Prosecutor will tackle issues on corrupt practices’ he said.

The internet is not secure in Ghana. Anyone who relies on the internet for banking needs puts his or her finances and personal data into jeopardy. It has been said that hundreds of people have access to the email accounts of many in Ghana. Another point worth mentioning is that often many forget that the whole Ghana is not like Accra. Many reside in towns and villages that lack basic amenities. They often have to travel far for their banking needs.
Akufo Addo will heal P.C. Appiah-Ofori of gonorrhea after 1 year. What about that?
Fighting Corruption can't be done in a rush. I think b4 u begin the fight it is human to give some amnesty which is the time we are now so people will not accuse the fighter as a witch or wizard. Gone are the days that it was done as if u are dealing with the enemy. This time it will be done lawfully whilst Govt. have time to do it business. Beside the Special Prosecutor there will be a season lawyer who will be a PRO for that office. Govt. communicators are out of this holy office.
Those corrupt officials you know will not wisely return the money. They think NPP is joking. When we begin prosecuting them, let any one talk of witch hunting, we will wizard the person as well. They are so cheap. Can't they make their own living without corruption. Let any NDC complain of witch hunting, and we will wizard hunt him or her. They should rather advise the corrupt ones to return the money asap rather than complain of witch hunting.
One year? After they've all taken up citizenship in Dubai!
it is coming it is do
What this man is saying is the truth. Any discerning person will come to the same conclusion that there are dockets being prepared on certain individuals in the country and these will form the test cases for the special prosecutor. This office will hit the ground running and it will be a permanent fixture in Ghana long after NPP is out of power. If I were any former or present civil servant who has stolen any money, it will be better to report yourself and start negotiations to pay back the money to avoid humiliation. The constant exposure in the press these days of what has gone on in the past is an indication of what is coming when the special prosecutor office starts work.
oh cat and dog news. make sure there will be a fair play.
