Member of Parliament for Juaboso Constituency, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has commended the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, John Peter Amewu for his relentless commitment to fight against illegal mining in the country.
Hon. Mintah Akandoh, speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', was happy the Minister has taken upon himself to confiscate the machines used by the illegal miners as means of stopping their operations.
Calling for support for the Minister, he advised the Government of Ghana to employ the services of the security agencies to clamp down on the illegal miners.
To him, the fight against illegal mining, popularly called "galamsey", cannot be won without the collective efforts by every citizen of the nation.
He complained about the attitude of some residents in the mining communities.
According to him, while some residents detest and disallow the illegal miners from operating within their communities; others also embrace them making it difficult for the authorities to flush them out.
He therefore urged residents in the mining communities to join the crusade to stop the operations of the galamseyers and not back them up since their activities pose threat to human lives and water bodies.

Everybody is praising the media and civil Society for its collective, responsible and inspiring effort to support the fight aginst Gadamsey. But mind you this collective interest didn't just fall from heaven. It takes a good Leadership skill to be able to convince and pull the People along for a common Course and good. This ability should not in anyway be underestimated and I believe, the President through his astute Minister should be commended for that.On the other Hand it is important and instructive to note that the Mahama- NDC Leadership lacked the skill to pull the People along for a common Goal. The good will of the President, Nana Ado is deeply manifested in the poeple of Ghana.
TO me ; Peter Amewu is one of the greatest political patriots of our time and all right thinking Ghanaians must show respect to this young man ; if we lose Nana Addo and this young man we are DOOMED !!!!!!as a nation because we do not need coup makers and fraudesters like JJ Rawling ; we need people who can do the job and lift Ghana out of our current disgraceful predicament because of these so called kriminal gang masqurading as politicians and law makers ; LONG LIVE AMEWU !!!!!!; LONG LIVE GHANA AND MAY GOD BLESS OUR MOTHER LAND GHANA. !!!!!
kofi Ghana don't need somebody like you. Some people take their jobs very serious, not like you lazy greedy bast........... that is how things get done. at this time after ndc, that is what Ghana need.
The internet is not secure in Ghana. Anyone who relies on the internet for banking needs puts his or her finances and personal data into jeopardy. It has been said that hundreds of people have access to the email accounts of many in Ghana. Another point worth mentioning is that often many forget that the whole Ghana is not like Accra. Many reside in towns and villages that lack basic amenities. They often have to travel far for their banking needs.
Ghana sincerely needs such patriots, so passionate about his job, polite, focused and tough. Other ministers should should learn from him. Mother Ghana is proud of you Minister Amewu
It takes one person to make a huge difference. Mr Amewu is making a difference and he is building a reputation and a career. He will be a president one day because Ghanaians generally like honest people and not corrupt people. Only few like corrupt people.
Poor Amewu! after giving air conditioned portfolio to themselves and their kinsmen, they gave you this dirty GALAMSEY job. You are pursuing it passionately, jostling from pit to pit, forest to forest and from river to river thinking these ethnocentric people will appreciate it. In their hide out while drinking whiskey they will tease you saying "AKWAANO BO DJUMA PAA O". Your party big men and their chiefs are behind the galamsey but set you on wild goose chase. Amewu, you will meet more impunity on the field, my advice is take your personal security seriously ok
Akando you've said the truth and ask your party members also to put down their political lens and see through the light and speak the truth once for mother Ghana. Minster Peter Amewu is the darling boy of Ghana for his toughness to deal with this galamsey,I love his toughness and courage for dealing with his work. May God Bless him and give him more courage and protection to continue to do the good work for his God and Country.
