Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has appealed to the Ghana Armed Forces to exercise restraint as they seek to unravel the full facts regarding the lynching of an officer, Capt. MA Mahama of 5th Battalion of Infantry.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kwesi Pratt asked the Military not to fly into any rage following the incident that occured at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region.
According to him, though it's a painful experience; the Armed Forces should act within the remits of the law and ensure the suspects are dealt with according to the country's laws.
Mr. Pratt however condemned the mob attack on the Military officer, wondering how they could assume he was an armed robber.
To him, nothing about the deceased showed any signs of him being an armed robber, asking which armed robber would jog at about 8:30 in the morning.
In his view, the residents might have acted out of paranoia and their fear of armed robbery in the locality.
He explained that the rate of armed robbery in the nation has pumped fears in the citizenry making them become paranoia.
Though condemning the mob attack, he however called for the strengthening and enforcement of the country's laws.

police should not handle this and even more not the corrupt politicians. just burn the village down . u don't treat a human like this. but I am sure all those nice people run to church every sunday and pray ..hypocrism in Africa...so to the army take over that region and keep the police out .eye for an eye no mercy .soldiers are brothers and need to protect eachother
Simi, if he s ur brother or relative will u say such an insult to the name MAHAMA, learn how to respect ur self
the name Mahama EEEEEEEEEEEEEEMMMMMMMMMM! these people knew what they did.
KWESI STOP,WE WILL KILL EVEN THE CHIEF OF THE TOWN THEY SHOULD JUST WAIT
Public institutions are weak. To the extent that the law is most of the time against the poor people and the weak but it always favors the rich. God let all politicians and Head of public Institutions suffer similar fates to put sense in their head. Justice is for all for humans and not for others. Though it a sad one and need to be condemned but Am waiting for the day one of our high profile people will suffer similar fate to see how it hurts when an ordinary Ghanaian go through same ordeal without justice.
If the police listens to a person like kwasi pratt, their reputation will be doomed for ever.If they listen to their all die be die president, more of such attacks on their fine gemtlemen will follow. If the military does nothing to eliminate this barbaric village and its folks from the map of ghana, then thier own cannot be said to belong to a fine and elite "brotherhood and sisterhood" and Capt. Mahama will never forgive them. I suggest they make the chief of the village bonk the queen on a table infront of their village murderers! 3y3 kanea, 3y3 haannn!!
hmm. The whole town is sick. Now the military should be what. Kerosene and fire. Watch what happens. The people in that town, politicans, galamesey operatives brought this on themselves.Heaven help that town.
The only thing that would end this lawlessness can has characterized the nana Addo presidency is unleashing of soldiers on those barbaric towns and individuals. Now that soldiers have invaded their town they should lynch all the soldiers if they are really men. Anyway, if the police and soldiers arrested and beat the delta forces and invisible forces very well, probably it wouldn't have taken the lost of the life of captain Mahama for them to invade a town. The police and the military need to be proactive. They should look at party colors. If ndc supporters misbehave and they need beatings they should do so, if it's NPP supporters too, no mercy for the cripple. This will put some sense in the heads of those who think they can do things with impunity and get away with. Ghanaians need a leader like jj Rawlings. During his time such barbarism was hardly heard of.
We are not kids! The perpetrators cooked up the story that they thought he was an armed robber. The people from the town knew this guy very well as the commander deployed to stop them from their illegal mining activities. He had been going for the jogging for the past 3 weeks he was posted there. They deliberately killed him to pave way for them to continue their illegal mining activities. The military should deal with the entire town folks. Ghana police should not be allowed to handle this issue. The military should handle it.
