President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has informed the Ghana Police Service that he is not interested in the matter that led to the arrest of Frank Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Appiah Stadium.
He is therefore not pressing charges against him (Appiah Stadium).
Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Minister for Information in a statement indicated that the president has consequently asked the police administration to “be accordingly advised”.
The Ashanti Regional Police command on Tuesday arrested Appiah stadium upon instruction from the National Headquarters for claiming that the President of the country smokes wee (marijuana).
Appiah Stadium was subsequently handcuffed and transported to the Headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra to answer questions concerning his claims.
According to the statement from the Information minister, Appiah Stadium who has been granted bail "is merely reciting from an NDC propaganda book, which has since been discredited”.

This so called Kuffour guy should not hide behind dubious names and talk as if he is an impartial counselor. The drift of your argument to any analytical mind clearly betrays you. I don't think you are trying to square off issues here. You are a die in the wool NDC sympathizer who can never see anything good coming from the party in power all the president. We cannot even count the number of people who have either been maimed or killed for talking ill or doing anything to defame an NDC president beginning from the holier than thou JJ. Wisdom, humility and the other virtues are not only nurtured into people, but they are practiced with conscious effort to become embedded in the personality of a person. Atta Mills had a modicum of some of the virtues but I could not see it in either JJ or Mahama. Honestly, JJ was and is better than Mahama. This not withstanding, let us endeavour to give praise where praise is due, for it is through this that we can gradually but consciously, build the society we all drean for and bequeath to our posterity.
Truly and indeed Prez Akufo Addo has shown that he's a father, a great leader and fear God. May Almighty God continue to bless u and your entire administration and give you great wisdom to rule his people, nothing can distract you from doing what is right cos the battle is still the Lord's. Love you very much and you are my great fan and mentor
Does it mean that NPP communicators and some members are also fooooooooools for insulting ex-president Mahama?
RESPONSE TO KUFFOUR'S PONTIFICATIONS ON THIS ISSUE IS NOT WORTH IT. HE HAS IETHER MISCONTRUED THE RELEASE FROM THE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION OR CANNOT COMPREHEND PROPERLY. OR ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE WHO CANNOT READ OR FAIL TO READ PROPERLY? MR. SO CALLED KUFFOUR, 'THE PRESIDENT SAYS HE IS NOT, I REPEAT NOT INTERESTED IN THE INFRACTION OF APPIAH STADIUM, AND THIS RELEASE WAS ADDRESS TO THE GHANA POLICE SERVICE EVENTHOUGH IT WAS AN ASSUAL ON HIS PERSON'---ME THINKS THAT ENDS IT. THE BEST YOU COULD HAVE DONE IF YOU STILL WANTED TO BE SEEN OR MAKE RELEVANCE IS JUST COMMEND LIKE THIS...THANK YOU MR. PRESIDENT, YOU'VE SHOWN THE WAY OF A FATHER AND TRUE DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP, KUDOS' AND THAT'S ALL....READ AND LEARN MY BROTHER KUFFOUR.
Only fuuu000001s like NDC people who will insult sitting President
The way some people are talking makes me feel that the President should allow the law to take its course. Nobody in this land where ever he or she is coming, even infants is afraid of anybody and Ghana is one country that has not fought any major war and so I do not know why we boost so much about its possible occurrence. How many Ghanaians can confidently handle guns with precision anyway. Our Soldiers are rather always silent. In any case it takes minutes for somebody to pass away but the devastation left for the unborn takes decades. A good example is Liberia, Congo, Somalia to mention a few. SO LET THE RULE OF LAW PREVAIL. Let us refer to our Criminal Offences Act and if "THIS NOBLE RESPECTABLE, GEORGEOUS, HONOURABLE, AFFLUENT, ELDER APPIAH STADIUM MAN" as some commentators wants us to address him has done nothing wrong let him go free. As for Civil action with regards to Defamation, it is left with the President to take that action and we all can see that he is not interested. Everything in Ghana has been politicize to the extent that even the food you eat shows which party you belong. We have a problem as people and I seriously think it is largely because we as a people are not industrious, innovative and ingenious so we always like to swim in "Trifles"
why must we be insulting our leaders like that in the first place? all the leaders i have known in ghana are always humble when they win power why then must we be insulting and calling them names? from rawlings to kuffuor to mills to mahama and now akuffo addo why ooo why ghana.we insult this tribe, insult that tribe, when are we going to develop if we continue like this folks?
@mick, you call this expression of opinion? Have you heard the tape? It was a categorical statement of accusation. Is that democracy? Even in the USA you can't make such statements and go scot free. So you people who want to hide behind democracy and go crazy beware. To me if the case is criminal the police does not need anyone's consent or interest, be it the president or who, to prosecute. They should go ahead; to serve as a deterrent to such miscreants.
If the President is not intrested, he is not period. But why rope in NDC popaganda book. That I do not think was the right thin to appear in the statement.
Sometimes one wonders how people think and what they actually want and even the future the want for themselves. I heard someone say he was expressing his opinion, really? by insulting your elders without any iota of evidence?. Actually I was wondering whether that guy is normal, he needs to see a psychiatrist. otherwise how can a right thinking adult speak the way he did. This ***barred word*** call politics, some people have misunderstood it and they are destroying themselves. That guy should be ashamed of himself.
