President Akufo-Addo has reemphasised his commitment to the fight against corruption hinting that the coming year will witness prosecution of corrupt officials.
He assured of his government's desire to drastically minimise the canker by punishing those found to be culpable of acts of corruption as government has undertaken audits and investigations.
The president, however, was quick to rubbish attempts by some section of the populace especially the opposition NDC and their Minority in parliament to tarnish the image of his government
Akufo-Addo was optimistic that despite the attempts to label his government as corrupt, Ghanaians will soon witness the real corrupt people in the country who have rigged the nation of its resources.
Citing instances of such attempts by elements within the opposition party, President Akufo-Addo recounted the allegations levelled against Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko that he had bribed members of Appointments Committee to facilitate his approval.
He also made reference to the corruption allegations that hit two of his Chiefs of Staff, Francis Asenso Boakye and Samuel Abu Jinapor who were later cleared by an investigation of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service.
“After the CID investigations into my two Deputy Chiefs of Staff alleged corruption saga, the Commissioner of CHRAJ who was appointed by former President John Mahama also instituted investigations into to it and cleared the duo.
"They are trying every means soil us but it won't wash,” Nana Akufo-Addo remarked
He also recounted the recent allegation of corruption against the Minister of Trade, Alan Kyerematen, and his deputy Carlos Ahenkora as the latest hoax desperately calculated to stigmatise his government as corrupt.
“I invited the minister of trade Alan Kyerematen and from the account he gave me, these allegations against the ministry are lies. I believe his briefing,” Akufo-Addo stressed.
President Akufo-Addo echoed that he didn't come into government to spend the tax payer's money recklessness or amass wealth instead he came to mobilise Ghana's resources to develop the country.
The President also observed that there are claims that he has stopped talking about corruption in public office after winning last year's election.
He warned that his government should not be tagged as engaging in a political trial when the government begins prosecuting people for the criminal acts committed
He disclosed these in an address to the chiefs and people of New Juaben as part of a tour of the Eastern Region.

Isn't it shameful for the president of the land to suggest to us that the issues of corruption in his 1year old government should not be mentioned and that we should wait till he starts his prosecution of NDC members. I thought Nana is a man of his words. We will resist any attempt to cover up the deep rooted corruption in his government by using former officials as scapegoat.
you are taking too long my president that is why those cr1m1nals are trying to tarnish the image of your govt. better act quick
You can't even defeat Wayome let alone innocent NDC leaders. There is so much in your hands with your cousins, sisters, brothers and ex-girlfriends appointed into high offices to chop chop. You will have a herculean task in convincing the world that you and your family are clean. The gate fees and seat fees as well as promoting your corrupt sister as CID boss are enough to sink your government. Watch out.
Talk they say is cheap...let just wait and see. 2018 will soon come.
The government must speed up the process. We want them jailed. i pay almost GHc 2000 as tax and if it was mismanaged, people must be punished
now you are talking.it is making me feel like i would be going to toilet to free my bowels of rotten yesterdays food.
What is your beef. It appears you are a beneficiary of the loot and afraid of your own shadow. Even if it takes ages he will make them pay for their deeds. My prayers is that the babies with sharp teeth are seriously exposed.
The people who are calling for jail terms are the same people who will shout from rooftops witch hunting, Nana stay focused and do what you think its good for Ghana. Don't limit your fight against corruption to politicians only. The civil and public service also stinks. Foundation for corruption by politicians are often laid by these people. Bring everybody to book. I If you fail to do and do it properly, 2020 will not be pleasant for you.
Y3A TE AA BR3. NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT. WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE GANDER IS GOOD FOR THE GOOSE. NO ONE WILL REMAIN IN POWER TILL THY KINGDOM COME. DO YOUR PART AND LEAVE AND ALSO WAIT FOR YOUR TURN TO COME FOR SERIOUS ACCOUNTABILITY, ONE UNDER THIS SAME SUN
