The Akufo-Addo led government has shown its dedication to tackle the issue of sanitation head on.
President Akufo-Addo has disclosed that his administration is set to inject GHC200m to address sanitation in the country.
"Government will spend GHC200m to address the issue of sanitation" he said.
According to him, the level of sanitation in the country is ‘unacceptable’ and that “there is the urgent need for public authorities to find means of making our cities clean, and, in the case of Accra, fulfilling my pledge, one of the most ambitious of my presidency, to make it the cleanest city in Africa, by the end of my term”
The President who was presenting his second State of The Nation Address in Parliament assured that “by the time I come back next year, an improvement would have been made in the sanitation aspect”

THEY WILL CHOP THIS MONEY AND NOTHING WILL HAPPENED. I WILL RATHER PREFER THE PRESIDENT HIMSELF BRINGING IN RECYCLING PLANTS IN ALL 10 REGIONS TO BE RECYCLING THE WASTE. THE PROBLEM NOW IS WHERE TO DUMP THE THE BORLA AND MORE RECYCLING PLANTS IN THE SYSTEM WILL SOLVE THIS ISSUE. DONT GIVE THAT MINISTRY THE MONEY, THEY WILL CHOP AM COS THE SANITATION MINISTER IS NOT CAPABLE.
It is refreshing to hear from the President in the SONA that Gov't has committed ghc200million for Sanitation. However some us will like to see a more revolutionary approach in seeing that Accra becomes the cleanest city in Africa. Mr. President, I think you need to push the managers of our sanitation to do a better job. I feel alarmed sometimes to walk through the central business district, sometimes as late as 11am and loads of rubbish are piled up in Nkrumah Circle and Kaneshie. If the President vision of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa, it starts with making Nkrumah circle and Kaneshie market clean
