Mr Dennis Amfo-Sefah, Constituency Chairman of the Tema West branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on Mr Koku Anyidoho, Deputy General Secretary of National Democratic Congress to apologise to President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“First and foremost, President Akufo-Addo richly deserves the apology because he, as President earned his legitimacy through the ballot box and not the gun. Secondly, the President is the current custodian of the people’s power.”
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the treasonable comments by Mr Anyidoho, Mr Amfo-Sefah said Koku ought to show maturity through remorse.
He added that an apology from Mr. Anyidoho would deodorise the political atmosphere which he badly polluted with his comments.
Mr Anyidoho is currently on bail after he had been released from Police custody following investigations into his alleged treason-laden and shocking coup comments that he made.
Speaking on an Accra-based radio station last Tuesday Mr. Anyidoho allegedly made certain security threatening issues that compelled the Bureau of National Investigations to pick him up for questioning.
To give his statement gravitas, he had referenced the 1972 overthrow of the Second Republic by former Military General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong that government had been led by Prime Minister K.A. Busia with President Akufo-Addo’s father, Edward Akufo-Addo, as ceremonial President.
According to Mr Anyidoho, that coup was a historical event that could repeat itself.
“The reference to that Acheampong coup was especially distasteful because in doing so, Mr Anyidoho was citing a motivational example in the incitement of mayhem. And the fact that President Akufo-Addo’s father was a direct victim of that coup made it so distasteful,” he said.
The Tema West NPP Chairman brushed aside justifications that in the past there had been similar unfortunate declarations by people from both divides of Ghana’s politics, saying Koku Anyidoho’s throwback to a physical coup made his more dangerous.
He urged the NDC Deputy General Secretary to mitigate the mess he had already caused by apologising to the President.

There is no need for apology. The dude has to be sent to court and if found guilty he has to be imprisoned to serve as warning to others.
Does this OLD all die be die liability need an apology? His family members controlling Ghana must rather apologize to him on behalf of the chiefs and galamsay people of Kyebi
I dont think the president will request or recieve any apology from a man who has no remorse. This is not the first time the is insulting leaders of our country. He insulted president Kuffour that, he would not see his face, his own party member Spio Garbrah that, he has cheap phd, called president Akkufo addo heartless, given appointment to his concubines. He has no remorse, his conscience doesnt even strike him that we are in democratic dispensation. You can critize constructively not to attack the person. After all ghana belongs to all of us why do you want to burn ghana becuase you have issues with the sitting president. We must learn to respect our leaders in high authority.Long live ghana
Apologise to a dwarf? No way and what for? Has the nana addict apologise to Ghanaians after sssmoking wwweeed and promised to unleash militants on his side and his all die be die?
I don't agree that an apology is necessary. This overgrown boy must answer to the court.
If the law of the land doesn't deal with Ayidoho because he is Ndc deputy Secretary then Ghanaians must wail and cry to God to help the poor and the common man because the law of the land is only for the poor and people without strong political backing . This is I real test for the law of Ghana Supreme court jail the ***barred word*** Montie 3 but Ndc found it wrong and released them. This another test of the the law . can the Judiciary be bold and jail Ayidoho or because he is Ndc scribe can walk away
Shame Hypothetical commentators, America has taking care of u in the 90s and from 2012-2016.stop going for Visa to America and call your relatives to come and work here in Ghana.
Apology for Where? Koku will NEVER apologise! Koku will never ever recant his statements!! He is not a coward. Did Ken Agyepong apologise for his ethnic remarks? Did Akuffo Addo apologise to the nation by his own remarks in the past? You can go and hang, he wont apologise!!!
America does not give out anything for free. They are a nation of accountability, as oppose to Nana Addo's govt. So whatever US gave us in the past, be not misled that it was for free, they know what they got in return, which may not be public. Secondly whatever aid they gave in the past does not give them the power to take away our birthright and sovereignty by such an awful rubbish deal. Jubilee House cost $500m for crying out loud!! Maybe the guy who wrote about the $1B given Ghana is worth $1 for his life because he likes the deal. How naive and low self esteemed can anyone be to agree to such a deal. Majority of Ghanaians will oppose this for as long as it takes!!
koku has no apology to render to anybody. infact koku will not do shiiit to akuffo addo. sometimes i do know how our leaders behave. you are invited to governers meeting and given an award which you know very well that you do not deserve. you believe the americans are praising you for the all inclusive family administration. oh god blackman will never learn sense. the only government that encourages thugs to storm law court to free suspect in kumasi. i did not know what akuffo addo was thinking. even mugabe at 93 will never stoop too low just for 20 million. we pretend we know but indeed we are idiiiooots among african countries
