President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been asked to rein in Assin Central lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong over his allegations against investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
“I think the president can also call [Ken Agyapong] in and ask, ‘What do you have against Anas?’”
This piece of advice was given by Kwame Jantuah, a panellist on TV3’s New Day, on Saturday.
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) member said Mr Agyapong should come clear if he has evidence against Anas.
The Assin North Member of Parliament has gone on a verbal spree against the award-winning investigative journalist over his latest exposé.
The exposé, which is expected to be premiered on Wednesday, June 6, is centred around Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
The documentary is titled ‘Number 12: When Misconduct & Greed Become the Norm’.
But since excerpts of the documentary triggered a presidential complaint to the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Mr Agyapong has attacked Anas Aremeyaw Anas to the extent of releasing ‘pictures’ of him.
He has also threatened to release a video titled ‘Who Watches the Watchman?’ to expose the journalist.
Ken Agyapong leaks passport, more documents of Anas
But speaking on New Day, Mr Jantuah said the journalist is doing a good job, one the anti-graft institutions of the state should have done.
“None of the institutions that are supposed to take control of this beast called corruption have acted. We thought they will kick in.
“The EOCOs of this world, the CHRAJs of this world seem to be silent and seem to be depending on what [Anas] is doing.”
But he acceded to the concerns raised over the modus operandi of Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
“In terms of the day he handles it, there are question marks there. Questions marks over entrapment.”
Notwithstanding, he said all those lambasting Anas, particularly Kennedy Agyapong, must prove so with evidence.
“If Kennedy Agyapong can show the evidence that Anas is A, B, C, D, E, he should put it out,” he said, adding that “it will be great” if some of the institutions take it up.
But he said the president remains the final authority to call Mr Agyapong to glean evidence from him “because the president has triggered the button”.
A member of the communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Nyamah, who was also on the programme, however, said Mr Agyapong’s comments are solely his and do not represent the party.

Anas is a cr1m1nal that is why he covers his face bcos only cr1m1nals do that. in fact these days the good cr1m1nals dont even hide their face when they go for operation. He has been exposed by Ken Agyepong if not why will they start the "IamAnas" thing to cover up. Guys u need to wake up. if he is not stopped now, he will lead this white ple to take over this country again. why cant the BBC ask him to do same investigation in Europe? the truth is Anas is a fraudster and a blackmailer been used by some ple including our colonial master's to destroy some ple. I pray he doesn't cross my path with his rubbish bcos he will regret it. Ken may wrong with his information abt him but that wont change the fact that Anas is a cr1m1nal. ask him for the galamsey video
IF GHANA IS SERIOUS WITH FIGHTING AGAINST CORRUTION, THEN I EXPECT THE CID TO INVITE ANAS FOR INVESTIGATION SINCE SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS OF BRIBERY AND EXTORTION HAVE BEEN LEVELED AGAINST HIM AND FURTHER CORROBORATED BY A WITNESS.PLEASE CID DO YOUR JOB BECAUSE THE BASIS FOR INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN MET IN THIS CASE. IN THE US, EVEN A FACEBOOK LEAD IS ENOUGH TO MOVE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR.EVERYONE MUST BE EQUAL BEFORE THE LAW AND SO ANAS MUST BE EQUALLY INVESTIGATED. THANKS
Why is everything in my country is "Ask the President". Ask Anas to sue Ken and the evidence will come out or ask Ken to provide the evidence.
The president doesn't have to call anyone to bring any evidence. Mr Agyapong should compile his evidence, put them together and also show it to the general public as Anas has been doing. He shouldn't hide behind his stations and throw accusations. So far the pictures put out have turned out not to be Anas. The chief from Tamale had no business at the TV Station, he should've reported the case to the Police.I hundred percent support what Anas is doing. Infact, it is long overdue. If this had started earlier, the corruption in the system would have reduced because people would be careful when soliciting for bribe. I say it again that anyone who has anything against Anas, should also bring it to public domain and we shall all support him or her.
Anas was doing a good job but now he is crossing the red line. How come the BBC will mot allow Anas to entrap the England FA? or the British Prime Minister? They will not because they feel they alright but the Black man always have issues. Only Anas will lead this foreigners to entrap the whole President the his vice. Where were the national security apparatus? Were day sleeping on duty? Imagine if they could have succeeded in just capturing the President on their video tape and that would have been a disaster for the nation. It could have brought the whole Government institution down. Also,It would prove to the world that the Black man is not capable to manage his own affairs. Why would Anas even try to do that just to implicate his own President? Is there any political party working behind this act? Anas method is weird, that is, women and money to lure people to bribe Tiger eye. After that, blame game, shame, disgrace, blackmail and then cash in.{can we describe it as aiding and abetting
Bogus advice. When did the President become gatherer of evidence?
These characters go quite when NDC is in power and pretend they are “neutral”. We know them. If u know ur law well how do expect CHRAJ to do?
