Deputy Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said the government has fully paid salary arrears owed former President John Dramani Mahama.
According to him, the arrears were paid as at July 18, adding government has no issue with the former President.
“As far as I know he’s been paid his ex gratia, he’s been paid all arrears of his salary and has been fully for his year 2018,” he said.
The Deputy Information Minister was reacting to claims by aide to John Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, that the former president’s office had not received a dime from the current government as salary.
Speaking to an Accra-based radio station, the Joyce Mogtari indicated that all efforts made to ensure the current government to fulfill its mandate of paying the former president his emoluments as spelt out in the Professor Dora Francisca Edu- Buandoh presidential committee on Article 71 office holders have failed.
The latest revelations by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah however debunk the claims by Joyce Bawa Mogtari.
The Deputy Information Minister stressed that the government has fully paid the former president all arrears owed and do not owe him any arrears.

@Joe so if salaries are paid through the bank, cheques are not issued? It is not every institution that is on the epayment system now even with that a document has to be prepared and authorised before the bank can honour the payment. HAS HE BEEN PAID OR NOT?
I heard from the minister himself saying they have paid Mahama all his sa.ary and told the last cheque and promised releasing it. My question is salaries ate paid through the banks like all government workers. How come that they are paying the Ex president through cheque? Is that not his Ex gratia? What about his office staff and other emoluments? NPP cannot be trusted when they are dealing with their perceived enemies like they have done since they assume power. They take credit of Mahama project and say it loud when it comes to liabilities. We are watching them carefully.
EX GRATIA IS DIFFERENT FROM SALARY. WE AS A COUNTRY DECIDED TO PAY OUR FORMER LEADERS AN EX GRATIA AND A SALARY WHEN THEY EXIT OFFICE. KOJO IS OBVIOUSLY NOT REFERING TO SALARY BUT EX GRATIA. HE IS AS MISLEADING AS EVER. I DONT KNOW WHY OUR EX LEADERS WILL BE TAKING EX GRATIA ANYWAY. ARE THEY NOT EX WORKERS? WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THEM? DID THE ONE WHO WORKED AT THE POST OFFICE NOT SERVE THE COUNTRY IN AN IMPORTANT CAPACITY? I THINK THE EX POAST OFFICE WORKER RATHER NEEDS MORE EX GRATIA BECAUSE THEY TOILED FOR MORE YEARS ON LOW SALARY WITH NO PREVILEDGE WHATSO EVER. SECONDLY, THE PRESIDENT OFFERED TO SERVE AND WAS ACCORDINGLY VOTED FOR. THE ONE WHO WORKED AT THE POST OFFICE DID SO TO EARN A LIVING FOR A CONSIDERABLY LONG TIME IN THEIR LIFE SO THEY RATHER NEED EX GRATIA. MP'S RECEIVING EX GRATIA IS EVEN WORSE.
WHAT IS ALL THIS FRONT AND BACK? IF I KNOW PREZ MAHAMA VERY WELL I DONT THINK HE WILL SAY HE HAS NOT RECIEVED HIS SALARY WHEN HE HAS? WE ARE TALKING OF A FORMER PRESIDENT HERE AND NOT AN ORDINARY SERVANT OF THE STATE. IF IT TURNS OUT THAT HE HAS INDEED RECIEVED HIS SALARY IT WILL DENT HIM FOREVER BUT IF IT TURNS OUT THAT WHAT KOJO IS SAYING IS NOT THE TRUETH THEN THE GOVERMENT WILL LOOSE CREDIBITY. IN ANY CASE SHOULD THIS BE OF PUBLIC DISCURSION? SURELY NOT. BOTH SIDES MUST RESPECT THE HIGH OFFICE. I TELL YOU THE SALARIES OF OUR PRSIDENTS IS NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT AND I FEEL ASHAMED WE TALK ABOUT IT. LETS STOP HERE.
Kojo Kojo Kojo how many times have i called your name?
