Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, the founder of the Danquah Institute is leading calls for certain NADMO officials to lose their jobs after some expired food items were distributed to flood victims in the Upper West Region.
Gabby's call follows widespread consternation over an incident which resulted in the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia giving out some expired cooking oil and food items to flood victims in Wa at the weekend.
The items were supplied by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
According to Mr Otchere-Darko, a nephew of President Akufo-Addo, victims and the Vice President did not deserve that poor treatment.
He posted on Facebook: "When you serve flood victims expired goods, your job also deserves to expire. You don’t treat victims and the Veep this way".
NADMO has already initiated a move to immediately withdraw the expired cooking oil and supply the flood victims with new ones.
According to NADMO, the expired cooking oil had been isolated at the warehouse in Wa awaiting authentication by the internal auditor, before they could be disposed-off.
Meanwhile, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper West Region have called for investigations into how the food items distributed by Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia to flood victims in the region turned out to be expired products.
Cooking oil and rice were among food items distributed to flood victims in Wa and Sissala East municipalities by the Vice President during his visit to the region on Saturday.
But while some of the cooking oil seen by Graphic Online had September 10, 2018, as expiry date, the rice seen by Graphic Online did not have an expiry date at all.
Some beneficiaries of the items have since complained about having suffered various health conditions, including stomach upset, upon the consumption of the food items.

I thought bawumia said some people in this country don't read. so how come he went to give his own people expired food to eat. has bawumia join the people he has insulted for not reading now? does bawumia said he read but ignored what he read on the food items. in fact bawumia is just disgracing akufo addo almost on daily basis. am sure the president is so disappointed in him by now.
If you polities NADMO this is the result you would get in my district the district NADMO coordinator is a party executive and dump illiterate who cannot read or write
if you decide to project a vice president unnecessarily, this ll be the result. must he be the one to present common cooking oil and rice to flood victims? anyway doesn't mean Bawumia just gets to do things? he cldnt check common expiring date?
Gabby seems to be talking too much. Any little issue then he jumps to make authoritative pronouncement. Have you employ somebody in NADMO? and do you know circumstances under which the incident occurred. Calm down, the fact that you are related to the President does not give you the audacity to be talking any how.
God is just exposing and punishing too known barwumia. This twerp goes around accusing othersof not reading. Mr reader did not read to know that products he was sharing was expired. When God is hanging you he first disgraces you. Barwumia is gradually seeing his smoothness level. Too much lies result in curse on him, and some people in the party are aslo planning to end his presidential ambition. He will be fine when he stops lying.
