Former President Jerry John Rawlings has criticised successive governments for failing to unravel the mystery behind the murder of some 34 women over a seven-year period between 1994 and 2001.
The women were found dead mostly in various parts of the capital including Dansoman and Mataheko.
Several years down the line, the serial murders still remain unresolved.
Addressing some student groups at the Accra Digital Centre over the weekend, Mr Rawlings questioned the commitment of the state to get to the bottom of the murders.
“[Do you recall] what happened to women?…In my last four year term, 34 women were killed in this country in order to create insecurity among women. They needed to deflate that confidence, that power. I’m not making up stories, I don’t, but sometimes I’m asked to provide proof by people who should know better and should back me up, but they try to ridicule me, so that I will proof that it can be proven…” Mr Rawlings stated.
He invited the students to join him at a lecture he is scheduled to deliver at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Sciences and Technology (KNUST) later this month, where he said he would throw a “bombshell” on the matter.

diversionary. I thought the topical issues now is that of the judges
We may not know who killed the women but we know during your time so many people died and we also know you can't say you are innocent
You were in power when the poor, defenceless and harmless judges were killed. You were still in power when 34 poor souls were murdered in cold blood. Now you are asking some other people to provide answers to what you superintended. Do you have logic at all? I bet No!!. In the case of the judges, you claimed you had answers and had Amartey Kwei and others executed, why couldn't you find the killers of the women? This is how JJR can act funny. Oya, the man has no bombshell to drop. His only bombshell will be that he helped in the plan to kill the judges, that is why the car used in the abduction had its keys on his wife's dining table from where they were picked to execute their plan. Hahahahaaaaa !!! The man dey fear roff
I still don’t know why these two men- JJ and Kojo Tsikata a still enjoying life freely without sending them to the international criminal court? We people!
Kweku Ananse stories! Hahahahahahaha..................JJ You were in power at that time and couldn’t find those killers because you did it all by killing those women. So tell me who do you think can now find these criminals which you were the head man?
Hahaha. You had Police, CID, BNI, MI and you couldn't find killers yourself!
WHAT KIND OF REASONING IS THIS? THE PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR ANSWERS TO THE KILLING OF THE JUDGES AND YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT WOMEN. WHAT DOES THE KILLING OF THE WOMEN HAVE IN COMMON WITH THE JUDGES?
