Thieves have broken into the Secretariat of 'One District, One Factory' and have made away with valuable items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis and documents.
Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, Coordinator for the Secretariat, Madam Gifty Ohene Konadu, explained that she received a call from her office Wednesday dawn only to be told that armed robbers had broken into the office.
" . . I quickly rushed to the office and to my dismay all our laptops, desk tops and other electronic devices including plasma televisions have all been stolen.
"They even attempted to make away with the portrait of the President which hangs on wall.
"The place is manned by military officers so I'm quite surprised they were able to engage in such robbery within that period of time," she narrated.
According to her the police have commenced investigations as such they are waiting for them to conclude so they can do a proper assessment of things that have been stolen.
The 'One district, One Factory' is a Government of Ghana policy.
It is aimed at creating jobs for Ghanaians through the setting up of factories and industries which will in turn move the country towards greater industrialization.
The policy was first introduced to Ghanaians in 2016 as part of manifesto of the now ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The programme received a boost on January 13, 2018, with the commissioning of Twyford Ceramics factory by President Nana Akufo-Addo at Shama District in the Western region.
The ceramics factory which is into the production and distribution of tiles is estimated at the cost of $77.26 million and will operate at a designed production capacity of 14.4 million square meters per year with annual sales projected to be $82.8 million.

In the run up to 2012 election petition, NDC burgled NPP office. NDC party has burgled NPP party office 2 times. This is the 3rd time. It is backward and infantile. Elections are won on merit and not by crude and criminal method like this. Burgling to steal NPP ideas but it is too late. The public already knows about NPP's policies. That clearly demonstrates how NDC is so ideologically bankrupt!
In fact, we have to be serious as a nation, Ghana. How can this country develop, if sensitive offices of this kind can be burgled? Whosoever is behind this must bow his/her head in shame. After all Ghana belongs to us all not politicians alone. Therefore no one can deprive the good people of Ghana their freedom to develop and advance. Rain or shine, the 1D1F agenda will succeed in the Name of the Almighty God.
Who else would benefit from this?
