National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has emphatically stated that his party has no official vigilante groups as far as they are concerned.
According to him they are rather looking at establishing a well trained ‘Ballot Box Protection Unit’ who will protect NDC ballot boxes during elections.
“ . . As far as I am concerned at the national level, officially, NDC has no vigilante groups but internally trained security personnel who are under control and trained by retired military and police personnel of the party,” he said.
Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme on Friday, the NDC National Chairman described vigilante groups are as group of persons who act violently and do not respect the laws of the land, but their internally trained security men do not defile the laws and orders of the land.
He affectionately confirmed that issues of vigilantism groups cannot be resolved by one party when the others have not made any attempt to call it off.
“Vigilantism can only be abolished in our system only if all political parties at once agree to abolish those groups,” he stated.
He said the NDC will put together strong armed men to face the New Patriotic Party [NPP] as former President John Dramani Mahama had already stated, if what happened at the La Bawalashie Presby polling station repeats itself during the 2020 elections.

Boot For Boot: I Fully Endorse NDC’s Hawks, Dragons, Vigilante Groups – Asiedu Nketia 06-Sep-2018 General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said he totally endorses the formation of vigilante groups within the party as a “natural response” to the governing New Patriotic Party’s refusal to disband its own vigilante groups. “I endorse it fully”, Mr Asiedu Nketia told journalists, justifying that it’s a “proper response” to the “recalcitrance of the ruling government and their refusal to do anything about vigilantes on the NPP side”. “You would realise that for two years now we have all been complaining about the rising incidence of vigilantes in this country, the president promises that something will be done and nothing gets done, some of us have been affected by vigilante attack, yet nothing [has been done], nobody has been held responsible as we speak to you now. “And they are now in charge of the security services and they still maintain party vigilantes terrorising people left right centre and all the security services are quiet. “Even when you take steps to report, they do not take any action, so, are you saying that we on the NDC side, because we are good citizens, we should keep quiet for NPP to control the army, to control the police and to control everybody?”, he asked. The NPP’s Invincible Forces and Delta Force groups ran amok when President Nana Akufo-Addo took office after the NPP won the 2016 elections. In Mr Asiedu Nketia’s view, it was high time the NDC matched the NPP boot for boot. Source: classfmonline.com

n wer will dey be operating from? ur house or de NDC office? thus is y Jean's response to CODEO report was misplaced. de EC has no control if security deployment. EC just writes to de IGP for security but de EC does not control de process o deployment, strategy n commend. for this group as de NDC chairman us talking about, unless EC gives de accreditation, and unless der re security lapses at de polling stations, dey will be no chance to enter n operate at de polling stations
This purely misplaced priority, because all the 137 polling stations, there is no single problem at any of the polling.Incident happened at the residence of the NDC candidate. Tell Ghanaians the alternative things your party will do when voted into power.
Look at this apology of a Pentecost elder. Do we have NDC Ballot box and NPP Ballot box? So what is this man talking about. By the way let your children and family members and that of your executives as well as presidential candidates form that unit. The incompetence has caught up with the NDC executives as well
Chairman, your utterances do not match your personality. Please think of something better and more rewarding. I don't need to tell you that your recalcitrant approach that foments trouble in politics will surely keep you firmly in opposition. We want Ghana to develop, not by people who always think of how to plan to steal and destroy others. If you insist, please get your biological children to lead the violence. We are tired of your violent behaviors. Can't you see even your loyal members did not go out to vote because of the force you or so-called ballot box protection unit?
You're noted for sending macho men to snatch ballot boxes.
'Tweaaaaaa... you are only going to ENDANGER somebody's children life. Let the group comprise of your children, that of the incompetent one (Mahama), Asiedu Nketia (children must come back from Canada to join) and the Otokornor! EVIL PEOPLE who only thinks about CREATE, LOOT & SHARE!
I am entreating my God Fearing Christian brothers, Mr Ofosu Ampofo and Ex-President Mahama, to lead by speaking the 'Peace Language'
