The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the Shai-Osudoku constituency, Linda Akweley Ocloo, says she sees nothing wrong with what the Minority did in Parliament during the swearing in of newly elected MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan.
Linda Ocloo, who lost her husband last year and was reportedly absent in the august House due to ill-health on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, described the Minority's walkout and the display of placards with the inscription ‘Bloody Widow’ as “Politricks” and a norm in Parliament, and should not be blown out of proportion by the media.
“I saw the placards but I see nothing wrong with that. The minority was just expressing their grievances on what happened during the by-election. They never attacked the woman in person,” she said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Tuesday, February 6, 2019.
The Minority walked out of Parliament in protest of the swearing in of newly elected MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan.
Jeers & Wielding of Placards
Some Minority MPs continuously yelled, "shame", and jeered as the Speaker of Parliament read the summons from the Electoral Commission.
Some also held up placards with the inscription “bloody widow”, in reference to the confusion in the incidents of brutality from National Security personnel during the by-election.
“In commiseration to support our comrades and citizens that were unnecessary hurt and brutally assaulted, I am sorry to say we cannot indulge in this. Our side of the house cannot be here to witness this swearing in,” the Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak said on the floor of the House.
Bad Precedent
The swearing-in on Lydia Seyram Alhassan went ahead as the Deputy Majority Leader and MP for Dome Kwabenya, Sara Adwoa Safo chided the Minority’s posturing as “disappointing” and a “bad precedent.”
But Linda Akweley Ocloo insisted that her party did nothing wrong - “In politics, you have to defend your party at anytime, that is what the minority did. Maybe they might have said something wrong but let’s understand that its politics. We are not enemies in parliament”.

Another illetrate
No wonder.... another ***barred word*** MP... God will judge we all some tym to come
There is nothing good from the ndc, so when will ndc get anything good? in fact if these colonial masters had dealt with some people in this present day Ghana the first time they set foot on our land I don't think Ghana would have been the gateway to Africa as these people are also the first to proud themselves of that accolades , whaat?you hear these minority and you think Ghana is still in the jungle! No wonder the white people concentrated at some particular places in Ghana and left others! whaaaat! Rawlings has done very injustice to this nation by giving some people the chance on his so called injustice mantra! I don't think he is happy at all with the formation of this ndc party ! he should have left Ghana's politics be as it was!it's terrible terrible now!
Another ***barred word*** NDC MP who is even a woman and widow supporting this ***barred word***. NDC is full of ***barred word*** and their MPs exibited it yesterday in Parliament.
This NDC widow MP is a disgrace to womanhood. Its even possible she killed her husband,a person of such nature is also a lawmaker.God save Ghana
Yes because you killed your husband for power so you don’t see any wrong against your fellow widow
YES IF NPP MPs CAN WEAR MOURNING CLOTHES TO MEET A LIVE AND SITTING PRESIDENT AND SHOW HIM A RED CARD, WHEN COMING TO THE FLOOR OF PARLIAMENT TO DELIVER "STATE OF THE NATION'S ADDRESS" WAS TERMED AS OK, THEN BLOODY WIDOW IS JUST PARLANCE. SO IF THERE'S ANY PRECEDENT SET OUT THERE, THEN THE NPP SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT.
Democracy in Ghana is a grace paaaaoooo
LINDA AKWELEY THE BLOODY NDC WIDOW.
