Former President John Dramani Mahama has accused the New Patriotic Party administration of borrowing recklessly over the past two years.
According to Mr Mahama who lost the 2016 Presidential elections to Akufo-Addo, the government is engaged in historic levels of borrowing but has nothing to show for it.
He said although his administration was chastised for borrowing, they used the said funds for developmental projects.
Speaking in an interview on Radio Gold today, Mr Mahama said his government used their loans to construct schools, hospitals, airport terminals, roads and lots of social infrastructures.
He said Ghanaians were disappointed with Akufo-Addo because his promises have not been achieved.
"I have something to offer. Ghanaians have seen what I can offer. The change of 2016 has not brought about any positive outcomes. The plans we laid out were very clear, and if followed would have moved us forward faster. Today, Ghanaians are the judges," Mr Mahama stated.
Mr Mahama is among seven aspirants seeking the nod to be the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 Elections.
Other aspirants are the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin; former Vice Chancellor of University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi; former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Mr Sylvester Mensah.
The rest are a former Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah; businessman, Alhaji Nurideen Iddrisu, and a cadre, Mr Goosie Tanoh.
The poll will take place on Saturday, February 23, in all the party’s constituencies nationwide and will be conducted by the country’s electoral body, the Electoral Commission.

Mahama is very shallow in his thinking,ex-president paaa! He's not mature at all...
THIS MAN LOOKS SCARED AND CONFUSED.
This Mahamah and Obama has the same idea...nothing to offer but talk talk...Obama borrowed more than all president put together, from 10 trillion dollars to 19 trillion, still telling the new administration that they are borrowing too much, same as Mahamah who doubled Ghana debt, and turn around telling the NPP is borrowing too much.
Nothing to SHOW from Prof. Incompetent Mahama. The PRESIDENT said he is thinking about the next generation which starts from tomorrow and not the next election. All your so called PROJECTS were in DECEMBER,2015 TO December 6,2016.And what happened to you after the election. We like what Addo Abudani is doing.
2012 will decide who is who.
Look at him!!! How much is the annual interest on the dubious loans you contracted. If I were you, I will sit at my one corner and chop my stolen booty
Is good governance all about building infrastructures - terminals, roads, hospitals, etc?? Sorry for the Former President. Some of us don't have short memory. When he was asked about how his government was spending borrowed money, the answer he gave was that people should ask their Parliamentarians. Is the NDC not having MPs? Why won't he now ask his MPs to brief him on how the loans are being utilized. He will be amazed that the chunk of that money is being used to repay interest on loans his gov't borrowed and the servicing of contracts he awarded even after he had lost power in Dec 2016.
INSULTS DONT WIN ELECTIONS ..............NPP LEARN WAEE
I felt sorry for you when Nana was addressing the SONA yesterday in your presence. Did you hear Nana on food production, education, railway, ports, new airline, Ghana Card, paperless port, passport acquisition, NHIS renewal, economic indicators etc. Most of the people hailing you now will make mockery of you in the furue like Daniel Osei is doing
I then wonder why people are complaining of bad roads in the country ooooo. Mahama do you think that within these two years of Nana Addo has destroyed the roads you built while you were in office? Mahama, try to make sense in your talking oooo. You talk like a serial caller, not as someone who has held a position as former president. Ghana awu ooo if this man comes back oooo Awurade hwe wo man Ghana ooooo
